Help, odd question Ava belle my 4 year old dog is a dog that i share with my ex boyfriend. Its not always easy because i dont always know whats is going on with her health wise. I just got her this week and i noticed that her anus is a lil red and a part loks swollen. She is dragging it on the ground as well. My ex told me he has drained her and also(yuck) massaged her as well as gave her some pumpkin. The pumpkin had helped her go to the bathroom but my concern is her anus area. It does not smell fishy so i know her glands are not clogged. Would it be bad to put neo sporian or baby paste on her? |
Her anal glands could be infected or even impacted. Take her to your vet and have her checked. Anal Sacs |
I agree - have her checked at the vet. One of my pom's had a gland burst & he had to have it removed. This is nothing to wait around to see what happens, go soon :aimeeyork |
I agree about a trip to the vet, but you can use a little Desitin or Beaudreux's Butt Paste (this is really the name brand and it is the best stuff for babies diaper rash too) to help soothe the red area til you get an appointment. |

OMG thank you SO much for that website! it was extremely informative! I LOVE THIS WEBSITE  |
Chester drags his butt when he needs his anal glands done, go to the vet they could get infected, and he probably is uncomfortable. |
After I get done grooming, my babies tend to drag their butts on whatever surface is below them. Which is caused from shaving the area back there, I assume it is just very sensitive. |
