Suzi's ill, & it's my fault :( I had no idea this would make my baby have an upset stomach. I gave her a corn on the cob , it was the rind part, a half piece, she did not eat all of it. It was cute the way she carried it in her mouth like a bone. She tried to hide it proudly , last night. Now, today, she has vomited small amounts 3 times. I am so upset with myself, and feel badly . Poor Suzi has a tummy ache .AND it is ALL my stupid fault. What can i do to help her feel better? I am very sad. She is behaving normally, just been a little ill a few times, and the vomit has been small amounts. I have tums, should I give her some? :( |
aww poor thing. No i don't usually give human meds unless a vet recommends it. I would go with pure pumpkin (canned) if she has diarrhea. Also pro biotic yogurt to help settle her tummy- Stoneyfields (i think it is called) is best- plain. |
They can't eat the cob. Our Lhasa Poo got into the trash and ate a corn cob once (she loved corn) and it made her sick for awhile. It will pass, be careful some Yorkies are allergic to corn/corn products. |
OK, I hope it will pass soon. I found where she hid the cob, under my bedroom pillow last night. I took it away before bedtime . She did not have much. But enough to make her tummy upset. I had no idea. Lessons learned. She did love it though. I feel horrible. She is behaving normally. ANd it has been very small amounts of vomit. It's grainy so I know it was from the cob. I don't even give her regular kibble, or canned dog food with corn it it. WHat the heck was I thinking? Obvioulsy not thinking at all. I won't give her tums. Yogurt , plain is ok then right. She does not have dierreha. |

Did she actually eat the cob itself? It won't digest if she did and can cause a potentially fatal blockage. Corn on the cob: This is not a toxic product. Corn kernels are a commonly-recommended ingredient in homemade diets. However, if swallowed whole on the cob, it is the right size and shape to block an intestine. This will initially seem like your dog is constipated dog with abdominal pain. However it can become serious if not cleared, as it can damage the intestine wall. Food backing up behind the blockage will do more damage to the intestine and can lead to perforation and a very sick dog. Surgical intervention is generally required to remove corn cobs. Toxic foods for dogs and cats | Pet Shed Community Corn Cobs Many dogs have suffered and, in some cases, died after eating corn-on-the-cob, when the corn cob caused partial or complete intestinal obstruction. oh poor Suzi, i hope she didn't actually eat any of the cob part because its been know to cause intestinal bloackages. it cannot be digested. give her the yogurt and pray she poops normally. Dogs with a foreign body blockage will act normally at first. Then they usually begin vomiting because whatever they eat or drink can't pass the blockage. If she doesn't poop and she continues to vomit take her to the vet immediately |

To the OP I hope your baby is feeling back to normal soon! |
awww poor Suzi! I hope she feels better soon! I give my boys corn on the cob when we have it, just a half of the cob, they love it! The only side effect for them is the kernels in the poo the next day! I am sure Suzi will be fine! :) |

Suzi has not vomited anymore then a few times . she also had a huge poop. What she did with the cob was chew on it. I understand now how dangerous this is , and will never allow her to have one again ! |
Suzi is also eating and drinking well . |
Poor Suzi! It's so scary to think of what we give/do for our dogs without realizing the consequences. I'm glad that she's going okay so far. I know you will keep a close eye on her and get her to a vet if she needs it. Poor lil gal... And you --- keep calm! She will be alright. ;) |
How's Suzi doing today? |
Checking for an update on Suzi. |
