Mimi is getting spayed today. question Hi everyone, I am having a nervous breakdown. I dropped Mimi off this morning for her spay surgery. The nurse took her from my hands and I wanted to cry. Am I over reacting? I kept looking back and I got in my car and cried. =/. I have a question, this morning she threw up a yellow white foam while we were waiting in the car for the place to open. She has not ate anything since last night after 10.. however she is a night eater and eats at night so last night she didnt eat since I took her food away for today's surgery, whic means she d id not eat all day yesterday and this morning. She threw up once, is this due to her not eating and her stomach is empty? She never threw up before, it was very unusual she did. |
Some dogs do release bile in the middle of the night. I would be sure the vet is aware that she hadn't eaten for that long, so they can be watching out for her to go hypoglycemic. If he's a good small dog vet, he'll be watching for than anyway, but it never hurts to call and voice your concerns. And while you're on the phone, check to make sure they use gas inhalant anesthesia only. Call them now... |
Maybe since she hadn't eaten the ride over made her stomach nauseated. I would notify the vet just so he has heads up. |
If Jemma has a empty stomach she will throw up yellow foamy bile, which isn't often. So it does sound like that is a possibility. Perhaps if you mention this to the vet he can give her a little nutracal to keep her sugar level up. Keep us posted! Carol and Jemma |
Thank you everyone. I informed my vet. We will keep you updated everyone. |
I've read on here also from other experienced YT'ers that often if your puppy's tummy is empty for a long period of time (overnight) they can throw up a yellow bile. This may be what it was. As for "over reacting" to her spay....nope, not at all. I did the exact same thing. I tried to stay calm and cool when I dropped Sophie off for her spay (back in March) as I didn't want her to pick up on my nervousness. But as soon as I walked out of the office I cried all the way to my car and the whole drive to work. I was a mess at work all morning and couldn't think straight with worry. The Vet called around 1:00 to say all went well and she was waking up and giving kisses. ;) I had all the tests in the world performed on her BEFORE surgery....all the necessary and optional ones! LOL I was so scared! Any word yet from the Vet? |
Whew. thank goodness. I was so scared. Thank you =) No news from the vet yet =/ He has surgery half of the day. I am just waiting antsy. |

Mimi UPDATED Hi Yt famz I just got back from picking Mimi up. The vet told me she was very good and she should be groggy for few hours cause of anesthesia. She has the Elizabethan(dont know spelling hehe) on her neck and she looks so sad =(.. I am so glad this day is over. This morning I went super early and picking her up I went so early I had to wait lol. Thank you everyone for helping me out and making me feel better. What would I do without my YT family. =D:yorkietal:heart79: |
Yay! I'm glad to hear all is well! Thanks for updating us! |
Awww, I'm just seeing this. I am so glad that Mimi is home with mommy. No you did not over react one bit. I was a total wreck when Hot Rod went in for his surgery, knowing full well that he would not be able to come home that night. I think I called the hospital 3x that night! I am sure they had me labeled as the pesky mommy. lol. Now you get to really spoil your little baby. Hope she feels better soon. :) |
Get well soon Mimi girl! I'm just seeing this too...I'm so glad Mimi's back home & resting...you can rest too Yoon. Keep us updated! |

Aren;'t they just great?? :) Sooo happy your Mimi is doing well!! Just thought I would mention, in case you haven't heard of it, that a lot of us have used baby onesies instead of that collar, to keep them from getting to the stiches, and not have to wear the collar. |
