Not sure if I need to worry yet?? I posted earlier about my two sick yorkies. I have been giving them rice and a tiny bit of 100% pumpkin along with a bit a pedylite. They both threw up and the Elvis, the male still has diarrhea. It is is very mucus like and has left his but stained yellowish (it was like that before I introduced the pumpkin) They have both been sick about 2 or 3 days. My yorkie gracie seems a bit better and has not had any accidents except for the vomiting after eating the rice but the male is still having diarrhea and as I noted earlier also vomited after eating the rice. Any suggestions or ideas of what caused them both to be sick together and how long to wait before taking them to vet? |
Really hun, you should be looking for a vet now. They are so small and dehydrate very quickly. It's anyone's guess what may have caused it. But the vet can correct it. Please take them to the ER vet. You don't want them going downhill anymore. If they've had it for a couple of days, that's not good. Carol and Jemma |
You dont want any dehydration so I would see a vet asap. Let us know |
I agree. It's time for a vet. They should do a fecal and possibly blood work. Pumpkin sometimes is not the best regulator. |
I am so sorry both yorkies are sick. They have been for 2-3 days and still not getting better. PLease take them to the vet. Get well soon little babies. :( |
Yep. Definitely time for a vet. Please let us know how you make out. |
it most likely is coccida since they are both sick at the same time and the sympthoms sound like it. You really need to get them to the vet or you could lose them. I don't remember you saying how old they are but adult dogs can also get coccidia and parvo. |
Uni was like this before, vomit and bloody loose stool. the vet prescribed antibiotic and diarsynil paste, that paste works like magic! Coats the intestine to help with the bloody mucousy loose stool. She was tested for parvo, thank god it came back negative. Take them to the vet ASAP! Please keep us updated! |
Please let us know what happened. I'm so worried about your babies. |

She was also tested for parvo, and it was neg. Ps. I think we saw Cap. noonie under the Sea in March at Disneyland, with my son on the big yellow Sub. ride> Hummmm . ;) or was it Pirates of the Carib? |

Update on pups. Sorry for late update. We followed advice and took both pets in. Elvis had progressed to bloody diarrhea and they we were unable to provide vet with a sufficient stool sample. They prescribed them an anti nausea and an anti diarrhea medicine and told us to keep them off all solid food for 24 hours and just give them diluted chicken broth (I made my own so I would know exactly what was in it) and plenty of water. We are just supposed to keep an eye on them and try to get a stool sample if possible. They thought maybe colitis but weren't sure since they were both sick. Gracie is 3 and Elvis is 7. Thanks again for all the advice! On a side note we also found out that Elvis had a yeast infection in his ear. He had been itching them a lot lately. He got some ear cleaner and ointment so hopefully it clears up! Hoping they are back to normal soon. Thanks:animal36 |
Sorry to hear about both of your babies!!! Keep us posted and I will keep them in my prayers!!! |
