Oliver throwing up, making me sick with worry Oliver started getting sick on Sunday evening around 8:30. He threw up three times and then settled in for the night. It was mostly food that came up. I didn't sleep a wink, but he slept pretty good. Yesterday, he was f-i-n-e. He ate, drink, played and didn't throw up once. Just now, I woke up to the sound of him throwing up in his crate. I threw his blanket in the washer, and came out to the living room to the sound of him throwing up again. I am now even more terrified as it seems like it could be something really bad if he was ok for a day and then began getting sick again - that doesn't seem like just a virus. He is now eating a small piece of a treat he found on the floor that I couldn't get it off him fast enough. This is enough to need a trip to the vet, isn't it? I really didn't want to rack up a big vet bill as I planned on starting some private training with him next week and thats expensive, but I really am scared now that something is really wrong. I don't want to lose a days pay either, but I had a hard enough time leaving him yesterday before I knew he was ok.. now I know he's not ok... I just don't know if I can leave him... |

With that much throwing up I would take him to the vet and theyll give him an antinausea med |

Have a vet appointment at 10:40, they are double booking to squeeze him in this morning so that hopefully I can go to work this afternoon. Hopefully it's nothing serious... |
Good luck, lets hope it is just a little bug and no big deal. |
Just checking to see what the Vet said |
The vet couldn't be 100% sure what it was without bloodwork and xrays, but didn't think those were necessary at this point as Ollie is still spunky, eating and drinking. He got a shot to help settle his tummy and some meds for the throwing up and diarrhea, as well as a few cans of a food that will be easier on his upset tummy. I stayed home from work today to keep an eye on him, and while he is sleeping more than usual he was still alert, playful, ate food, drank water, and played outside like normal. I am still concerned, obviously, but all I can really do at this point is make sure he gets his meds and watch and wait... Hate him being sick!!! Would rather it be me. |
I hope and pray that Oliver's doing okay. |
Any updates on Oliver? |
Oliver is doing well :) He is back to his usual reign of terror, lol. He has not thrown up since Tuesday morning before he got the shot and meds, and his stools are normal again. He finished off the last of his prescription food just now (mixed with his kibble) so he's back to normal at dinner - my worry is he won't eat the kibble alone anymore because he so loved the other stuff lol.. We shall see! Thanks for everyone's support and concern.. I am soooo happy to be able to say that this situation appears to be over. |
Great ... so glad to hear good news! |
