Which heartworm preventative for liver compromised yorkie
 
Hello-

I have been giving both of my yorkies Heartguard since we have had them, but we have just recently learned that Willow has high BAT's, we don't know yet if it is a shunt or MVD. Is there a better alternative to Heartguard? She has never had a bad reaction, I just want to be as safe as I can...the vet said Heartguard was ok, I just want some second opinions...

My Manolo had a reaction to Hartguard, he has slight MVD. Im still looking what would be a good natural solution.

My Joey has just recovered from liver shunt surgery. The vet told me to only use Interceptor. That just happens to be what I have been using all along, but I've read that it is also the safest.

Zeus is on heartgard. He has MVD and will be 8 years old in May. I choose not to give it in winter and have never had any difficulties.

Unfortunately, I don't have that option in Houston, we have mosquitos pretty much year round:( But, since she doesn't have any reactions, I guess I will keep giving it to her.

We are using Interceptor at the recommendation of our vet and Milo has not had any adverse reaction although he has only taken it 3 times so far.

Those flea repellents are extremely harsh chemical's that go into their blood stream and cause major health problems. Here are some natural ones that work better and are safe.

Thanks so much for this. Yahoo support group member told me to use Parasite Dr. All natural. Even the topical creams, sprays and oils will go thru the bloodstream, I am trying to keep it natural too.

Heartworm disease is too dangerous to try natural and unproven routes in my opnion. Ellie has high bile acids and she does well on Interceptor. Heartgard will also be okay but jus the regular, not the Heartgard Plus (contains beef).

You don't need harsh chemical's to ward off insects. The natural ones DO work, and without the risk of cancer.
