help would be appreciated my little Scamp (17wks) is just not himself :(:(, had a loose stool earlier today and i noticed some grass strands in it. Now he has had one small bout of diarreah on his pad since then. Hes also not as playful as normal and just wants to lay around or walk around..usually not the case whatsoever! I am positive he hasnt gotten into anything really bad, besides eating grass. Here are some facts that may help: -he had his last round of shots on Saturday -this started today -he is 4.5 lbs (sat) -I called vet-- they said to give small meals today and make sure no eating grass and call and bring in tomorrow morning if no change, or before if things get worse. -he has eaten some today and drinken some too (again not as much as normal but i did witness him eating two or three times) -he is normally free fed how do i tell if he has a fever? What should I try, or should I try anything. how do i not let him eat grass?? He is always on a leash, and i thought he was just licking the gress :( |
You can take his temp. if you feel like it. :) Other than that, just follow the vet's advice. If there is any change, he needs to be seen immediately. You can go to a bland diet like sweet potato and chicken but your vet may advise you otherwise... |
I've caught my dogs eating grass before when they weren't feeling well...however usually it just made them throw up...and then they were better...I'd follow your vet's advice and see if he's feeling any better by tomorrow...If not I'd take him back to your Vet... Hope he gets to feeling like his old self soon!!!:) |
You can try canned pumpkin, no spices and that can help with the diahrea. As soon as you see him sniffing the grass gently pull him away or distract him. I hope he feels better soon. |
