My Yorkie was convulsing? Hi all.. we think that yesterday our Max got a hold of possibly some form of heart medication,or tylenol 3 that got dropped on the floor by my 80 old Mom inlaw. I found a crushed pill by the kitchen table and I cleaned it up But who knows if Max licked some up. 3hrs later he was shaking like a leaf and he was warm to the touch. We called a Vet and he told us to give him milk which acts like a anti detoxant. Well it seemed to work, but it took him a little while through the nite, and this morning he seems fine..But what a scare so Im wondering if he was actually convulsing... or reacting somehow to those meds |
OMG! I CANNOT believe your vet did not instruct you to being him in immediately. Tylenol is extremely toxic to little dogs, and very easily could have killed him. I know it's hard with elderly people and children, but please, please, please, make sure that doesn't happen again. I am soooo glad your baby seems to be ok. Hopefully he's out of the woods. |
Amanda is right. Tylenol is extremely toxic. Shame on the ER vet for not telling you to bring him in right away! Please keep a close eye on him throughout the day as he may still not be out of the woods. This article will tell you what to look for: Acetaminophen Toxicity in Dogs |
Oh No. Hopefully he didn't get enough to do any lasting damage. If they ever get a hold of a pill and you know it give them hydrogen Peroxide to induce vomiting immediately and then you will see if they did swallow it. I am surprised to that your vet didn't want to see him. |

And please consider taking him to a different vet today. It would be a good idea to at least do some blood work. |
Well hes okay, thanks, and I wasnt there and didnt see him actually injest it...By the time I got there 3hrs later is when I saw him. The Vet I called told me that theres nothing I could do like make him vomit since it was already in his system..He just said to give him milk and keep a eye on him and if he got worse to then take him in,since he wasnt in the clinic. So I did watch him and he slept a bit while we ate dinner and I was waking him every so often |
