How to help with a UTI We are taking Rae to the Vet on Friday (soonest appointment we could get today), and we are fairly certain she has a UTI. She has several signs of it. Is there anything I can do to make her feel a little better until Friday? I know its only basically a day away but if there is anything I can do to make her feel a little better I'd like to. We of course are doing extra cuddling! Poor girl :( |
It might help to add a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to her water. Also make sure she's drinking lots of water too, that will help flush her out a bit. This will hopefully ease the symptoms a bit until you can get her to the vet. Can't they squeeze her in tomorrow?:( Maybe if you tell them she's whining in pain, they'll have a heart? |
I just went thru this with Hot Rod. Make sure to bring a urine sample with you, I didn't and it took time for him to give them another one which delayed things. I hope she will be able to be seen tomorrow. |
Found this link below and thought it may be helpful. Try your best to catch a urine sample so it can be tested so they know what type of antibiotics to prescribe. The urine sample must be placed in a clean container and must be fresh, not older tha 4 hours old. Best wishes! Dog Urinary Tract Infection Home Remedies |
Sorry I'm just now getting back with an update. My husband is on his way home now from the Vet's with Rae. We weren't able to get a sample from her, and the vet had a hard time too, she gets spooked when you try to get behind him to get a sample while she is going. They did get some though. Not enough for a complete test though. But they did say in their preliminary testing they didn't see any signs for a UTI. So I'm not sure what is wrong in that area. But they did say she badly needs a dental... as in next week. I am VERY nervous because shes under 3lbs. But they said it is really important. Any experience in this?? They said when they do the dental they can get a better urine sample then, straight from her bladder, whatever that means. For now they said they aren't ruling out a UTI, but they don't think she has one. |
