Odd dry spot on baby's leg, getting irriated. 3 Attachment(s) Hey everyone! I'm pretty new to YT but I absolutely love the site and the great resource it has given me....big thank you to everyone! I am not sure if this is an emergency or if he is really sick. Let me give ya'll a little back ground. My furbaby is 3 1/2 months old... Less than month ago my little :aimeeyorkGix:aimeeyork got ahold of a electric cord and got a little shock. (House is COMPLETELY baby proofed since) He was in the hospital for two days on IV and Oxygen just for precautions and to watch how he was. Since then he has been just fine, no side effects or anything. They did however have to shave both of his front legs to put an IV. But now he has a little round spot on the back of his front left leg that just looked like a dry patch of skin. Now I think he knows its there and has been licking it and its getting a little red. He lets me touch it and doesn't make me think it's hurting him so I am not sure if its serious. To me, it does look just like dry skin but I am not sure. I am going to post a few pics, ones before it turned red and some I took tonight, but bear with me as I cant find my camera card so I have to use my phone to post the pics. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!:):):) Attachment 272275 Attachment 272276 Attachment 272277 |
Since he is licking it it is not going to heal, I would call the vet and see if you can email the pictures to them. My guess is they will tell you to get a cone so he can't lick it and put some neosporin on it. Good luck |

Thank you ma'am I will try that. I am watching him to make sure he doesnt lick it for tonight and put some anti biotic on it...I am gonna try to get him in tomorrow morning. |
You may have to put a cone around his neck and have it treated. It could get worse so I would not wait and take him in to the vet. |
I would get the area looked at in case this is a contagious situation or a fungus. Could be ringworm (a fungus, not a worm) or mange - so I'd really get it looked at as soon as you can. :) |
Thank you guys for your advice! I appreciate it! Well I went out last night and got some neosporin and some gauze wrap like you would get when you give blood...(called the vet)Thats what they said to to do for the night, and he did fine....today it looks alot better the redness it gone and it looks like its trying to heal. I couldnt get him today to the vet, but I am going to bring him in tomorrow morning to have it looked at to be sure... but so far so good. And its not gettting any worse or bigger... |
I wish I could see the spot better. There is a possibility that it could be a staff infection. Doggie staff is not contagious so don't panic at the word staff. If it doesn't get better and it is staff you will need an antibiotic to clear it up. |
That is a vet case.... it could be infection , virus or not, but he may need antibiotics or other prescription ... Good luck ! |
