Yup anything with fat - no cheese, no pork, no PB - you have to read all food labels before giving anything to your baby now.:( Oh you can give Cheerios as treats so at least that's a good option.:animal-pa |

PB and cheese are debatable in healthy dogs and shouldn't be given to pancreatitis patients (an exception may be low fat cottage cheese in a homemade diet). |

Hi Guys! I'm new here, and I have a couple of questions about Baylee. He is 7 months old, and he weighs 2.9 lbs. He eats twice a day (Solid Gold's Hodjken Flocken-if I spelled it correctly ). Well on last Wednesday, I noticed that Baylee threw up a yellow, clear substance. He plays regularly, runs, jumps, hides...everything else he normally does-even after this episode. Last night, I noticed that he vomited some of his food and then he ate it before I could stop him. So....This morning around 3 a.m. he wanted out of his bed, because he pooped in it, and it was a soft stool-not solid as it usually is. I immediately cleaned the area, cleaned all of his toys, and washed the plush ones. I did not put his food down for him, and only left the water. When I woke up this morning, he threw up again-yellow, clear substance. I've only left the water down-no food. I plan to go home on my lunch break and take him to the vet if this worsens. What are your suggestions? Any of your own, prior experiences similar to this one? PLEASE ADVISE...Thanks-Stan |

I feel like I have so much research to do....Truffles ate the boiled chicken I brought to her! She ate it this morning, wouldn't touch it yesterday. So she gets to come home! I don't even feel prepared! What to give, what to keep away from her! I will have to pick up ALL their food (I free feed) and find SOMETHING to give her/them NOW! I haven't even read where I can find the Honest Kitchen yet so I need to hustle! The vet mentioned Wellness? Thank you for all the info and support. I will continue to read and post questions (hehe) and keep you posted!! I am soooo happy that I wanna call in sick and stay home with her tonight!!! |
Also, now that I'm reading the Honest Kitchen website, I HAVE tried this food before! I don't think the girls showed much interest in it?! I didn't add meat to it though. I remember the texture now and I remember the GREEN one....lol |
Not sure of hte fat content in Wellness. Natural Balance is lower fat but not sure how low. If you wanted to go with kibble, something like NB Venison and Sweet Potato may be okay. The sweet potato would be good for her and the venison should work. Just not sure on the fat% at the moment though. I think you can order Honest Kitchen from their site. |
Just looked. It is 10% which may work but that is the minimum. With any of these foods you should ask the company what the actual content is because it is likely higher. For example, NV says their fat is 18% minimum but is really something like 26%. |
I just called Wellness to ask the actual fat content . The bag says: crude fat, not more than, 14% and moisture, not more than 10% . She says actual is 15.2 as fed and 16.5 w/moisture taken out. There is a lowfat formula that is 9.7%/10.43% How does this sound? Seems low to me ;) I'm not ruling out the Honest Kitchen but I need to find something now that I can feed the girls.... |
Solid Gold Holistic Blend has only 6% fat. It's also only 18% protein, good for Yorkies with liver disease: Holistique Blendz Adult Dog (fish) |
