Rectal Adenoma I just came from the vet and Romeo has a 3mm rectal adenoma. It is actually sticking out of his rectum a little. He doesn't have any pain or symptoms. The vet recommends a surgery with laser , but she doesn't do it. I called a couple of vet hospitals and the surgery costs a fortune. Is this a common yorkie problem? I would appreciate any advice or experience concerning this issue. I am heart broken for the little guy. |
yes the surgery is going to cost at least $2500-$3500. its expensive but worth it. the laser deal, i think is crap. it can most definitely be done without it. its not a common thing in yorkies. I do not think adenomas are breed specific really. i believe it has more to do with the fact that he is intact. It is common in older, intact males. |
update Romeo had a 4mm rectal tumor. It was removed and benign. He is recovering at home. He was also neutered. It ended up costing me around $1600. I am looking into pet insurance. |
Hope all goes well for the little one. If only we could use Prep H for everything rectal, right?? |
