Is this something to worry about? I've been getting worried about my little girl lately. Since she was little, whenever she ate too fast she'd throw up a little, but she would swallow it and that was it, no more issues. The last few days, I've noticed her doing that little throw up then swallow thing at several points within the day. I've even found a few spots on the carpet of that yellow bile. Is this something to be worried about? She eat dry kibble for her meals, and I have different treats I give her, but nothing new. All the food she's had in the last month she's had for the last 9-10 months. She seems to be having some allergy issues lately, if that matters. She sneezes and scratches at her nose. Other than being scared of thunder today and being a little clingy, her personality is pretty much the same as always. I'm just curious if this is something I should really be concerned with, or if this was normal for most yorkies, but she just hadn't gotten there yet. Please let me know what you think! |
Yellow bile means that her stomach is empty. Try leaving her food out all day for her to munch on when she gets hungry. If she's like Momo, he eats everything...feed her smaller amounts more frequently, like divide her whole day portion into 3. If you're not home to do that, I'd leave her some food before I leave. Also try giving her some treats before bedtime. Eating too fast, try feeding her a little & when she's done w/that, put a little more on the bowl. |
If she is eating to fast, you could try giving her smaller amounts at a time. occasional throwing up is normal, if it gets worse or continues for several days I would call the vet. |
She eats fast because she's afraid she's going to miss something. Every time I feed her, she follows me until I sit down before she goes back to eat. Then she gets back to me as soon as she can. She pretty much eats anything I put in her bowl, so feeding her all day would be expensive and would fatten her up pretty fast. I feed her twice a day now. That's the most I can, and it be a steady regiment. I think the bile marks on the carpet are happening in the middle of the night. She has water available all the time. |
To slow down her eating you can try a "brake" fast bowl. ![]() or interactive toys that make her work to get the food. this slows down her eating so she can't gobble it all up in a few seconds. BestFriends General Store: Small Tug-a-Jug Treat Dispenser BestFriends General Store: Twist 'n Chew Treat Dispenser Small you can try giving her half her dinner at dinner time and then the other half at bed time so she eats later at night and has food in her stomach during the night, which should prevent the vomiting or regurge of bile. you can also ask your vet about giving pepcid to settle the stomach and prevent the bile from coming up. |
Eating strictly dry dog food is not healthy. Have you tried home cooking instead. It's much safer and healthier. ;) |
I think it has something to do with the allergy situation. I feed mine premium dry dog food, fruits and I'm going to start giving her some vegetables. I heard baby carrots are good for them. NO GRAPES OR RAISINS PLEASE. I will love to do the home cooking thing but I don't have time |
Try to feed her some food at night before bed. Pao used to throw up bile early morning and it stopped when I feed him supper before bedtime. |
