stedmansmommy | 03-25-2009 12:21 PM | PLEASE Pray for This Cat! WARNING: GRAPHIC PICTURES Inside! 4 Attachment(s) My hubby and I went out for lunch today and afterwards he had to go back to work. Well on my way home, when I pulled into my neighborhood (going down the main street) I was talking on my cell phone but looked over and noticed that there was a black and white cat laying on the side of the street. At first I didn't think a whole lot of it, cause cats lay on the side of the street and on sidewalks all the time. However, as I drove passed him, something clicked in my head and told me to turn around. The cat just looked so still and the whole situation just didn't seem right. So instead of going towards my house, I turned down a different street and went around the block so that I could get to the cat. I parked my car on the side of the street and got out and walked up to him and his eyes were open, but he wasn't moving. I started saying here kitty kitty kitty and he started to meow...but still wasn't moving an inch. So a neighbor lady walked outside and asked what was wrong with the cat and I told her that I wasn't sure, but that I thought he may have gotten hit by a car. Well, I was standing in front of the cat and she walked up behind him and put her hand over her mouth and said, "Oh my God he's bleeding!" ....so I walked behind him and sure enough there was a good sized pool of blood! So I immediately started shaking and freaking out. All the while I was on my cell phone with a friend of mine and she said OMG let me call the vet and see what to do. We were TRYING to avoid calling Animal Control in fear of them coming out, getting the cat and just immediately putting him down - I didn't want that if there was any way at all for the cat to be helped/saved. I told her that she could go ahead call Animal Control (the vet said that the only way they could treat the cat was if I brought it in and of course paid for all it's care - I would have done that easily, but the cat would NOT let you pick him/her up) - anyway, I told her that she could call Animal Control but if they told her that they were going to put the cat in a gas chamber to FORGET IT!
So anyway (trying to make a very long story short - but it's not easy) Animal Control finally came. Well the first guy they sent out had NOTHING - absolutely NOTHING with him to get the cat. Mind you, the neighbor lady that came outside went back in her house to get some water to see if the cat would drink any, and when she offered it to him (I am calling it a "him" because I don't know what the sex was for sure) he got so scared (and probably because he was in so much pain too) and almost FELL IN the gutter!!! Luckily he didn't, but he was laying right on the edge of it for the longest time. So....when the Animal Control guy came with NOTHING to get the cat with, he put on gloves and was going to try and get him with his bare hands - but I told him DO NOT do that because the cat will get scared again and then he is SURE to fall all the way down in the gutter and that alone might kill him being that he was already injured and bleeding.
SIGH.... so the Animal Control guy called ANOTHER Animal Control person (this time a lady) and she came out with a catch pole thank God...BUT...the cat flew out of the gutter and got away!! There was no way of her catching him - cause I watched the whole thing....I mean the cat was just scared to death. I was thinking that his back leg was broke...and the Animal Control lady said the same thing. When he got up and ran he was running all wobbly and his legs looked funny...so I'm sure he does have a broken leg  Anyway, the cat got away and I have no idea where he is now. Please just say a prayer for him that he will be ok. Either by someone finding him and helping him or either him just passing away because I honestly do not want him to be in any pain. I mean, I don't want him to die either, but I cannot bare the thought of him laying there in pain - or slowly bleeding to death - my God
I wish I could have done more for this cat...I tried EVERYTHING I could and I stood outside on the sidewalk for over an hour waiting on all the Animal Control people to get there. I am the ONLY person that stopped to try and care for this poor cat. People were just driving by like "whatever" - they could very easily see that the poor cat was injured and was laying in a pool of blood and obviously no one cared  How can people be so cruel!!!
I took pictures with my cell phone and the first one is kind of graphic as you can see the blood. The others are just of the cat in the gutter and of the Animal Control people trying to catch him.
Please keep this little guy in your prayers...he looked like a pretty young cat and I just hope that he will be ok....or either go quickly so that he is not in any prolonged pain  |
