FHO fix and Hernia removal in 1 day :( My poor Mya...about 6 weeks ago Mya had FHO surgery...she went in for her checkup today and the vet was concerned bc she still wasn't fully using her leg. After reviewing a new x-ray, it turned out that the bone had splintered and there was a piece blocking the hip from sliding into place. So she had to go into surgery again... well at the beginning of the appointment, I pointed out a lump Mya had on her belly...an umbilical hernia....I have her home now, and she has 2 incisions with staples :( After the first surgery i thought it was bad with the one hip incision but now she has one on her tummy too :(...her quivers finally stopped, I am sure she is in pain :( she is on pain meds but I just feel awful... Does anyone have any experience with umbilical hernia surgery? And have any advice about the recovery? She is 10 months old and we think it herniated during the accident that fractured her hip when she was playing outside as that's when I noticed it. They are expecting a full recovery really quick on her hip because of that piece removed that was causing so much discomfort sigh but her poor pink tummy :( |
Sorry to hear about your poor baby. Hope she feels better soon. Cali didn't have a hernia but had an emergency abdominal surgery and was spayed at the same time. She was also in heat and had liver biopsies done. She did well but it took her a few days for her to want to do more than just sleep and eat. |
surgery My girl had an unbical and two ingenel hernias. Keep in touch with your vet. Our baby recoverd fully and able to play in about three weeks. But she was really fine in three days but tired easy. She also had baby teeth removed. As far as the pain you want them to have some pain or they will tear out their stiches. Plus dogs have a high pain tolerance.:) |
That poor baby! I'm sure she will heal quickly...at least I hope so, but it's so sad to see them hurting. Bless her sweet heart. I'll say a prayer for a complete and speedy recovery. Hugs to you! Get well wishes to Mya! |
Poor little thing. At least they caught the bone splinter early enough where it did not cause any damage. I am sure she will be feeling better in no time. But it is hard to see them suffer from surgeries and injuries. You feel so useless! |
Poor little baby, Hope she gets better soon!!!! |
Milo had the FHO surgery, and was up and going 2 days later, I know how hard it is you just wish they could talk to you and tell you what is going on. All you can do is keep an eye on her make her as comfortble as possible, and make sure she is eating, peeing, and pooping normal. You might want to put something that smells like you in her bed or crate if you use this way she will smell you and that is a comfort. |
