XP: Vomitting frothy yellow bile I posted on sick and injured but thought someone here would get back to me faster. Please help my baby just vomitted yellow frothy bile. I called the vet immediately and they said she might be hungry so I gave her food and water (she had both in her bowl but hasn't been to them all day today) Could this be about something else as well? I think she might have ate a top button from a basebal cap the other day. I didn't see it in her poop but I also haven't found it anywhere. Please help, should I take her to emergency? |
Layla does this when her tummy is empty- if nothing but foam comes up- that is usually what it is. Did the food stay down? This used to happen to us EVERY morning and now we give Layla a late night snack of organic yogurt with baby food fruit- solved the problem! |
Thanks so much for your reply. She ate quite a bit of food, played and now is napping. Her bowl was full from this morning, normally she goes to it and eats whenever she wants...I guess she was too busy playing today to remember to eat. |
this happens with Avie, it's when she hasn't eaten & has an empty tummy! (she has always been my picky one!) make sure she eats.. maybe give her a little bit not long before she goes to sleep!(&/or just make sure she eats in the morning! ;)) |
oh and you may try giving her a little bit of nutri-cal (or a treat..) to kinda stimulate her appetite some! ;) |
This just happened to me today. Zeus refused to eat breakfast and lunch today and needs to take medication with food. I called vet and they said to just give him is medication. I did and about 30 min. later he vomited the yellow frothy stuff. Upset empty stomachs will do that. I finally got him to take some peanut butter in his kong. My vet told me to keep a close eye and to bring him in if he doesn't eat soon. Sounds like her tummy is upset too. I hope she feels well soon. |
Mine do it when their stomach is empty. |
Mine used to do that if they went too long without eating. now i give them a bite (maybe a teaspoon) of canned dog food in the morning just to get them over the hump and then they eat kibble the rest of the day. No more problems for them. My Kissy was the worst and if her tummy growled, she thought she was sick and WOULDN'T eat. I would give her a little peanut butter in the roof of her mouth and it would get her licking and get the hunger juices flowing again and then she would eat. Fortunately, we haven't had to do that in a long time. Good luck with your baby. |
Can anyone recommend something easy for them to digest when they are doing this. Millie was spayed on Wednesday and hasnt really ate since. She is now throwing up bile too, and she ate a tiny bit of chicken about an hour ago and it came up too. I had her to the vets earlier (before she was vomitting) and she was given antibiotics and antiimflammatories. They said if she was no better tomorrow, bring her back. |
Yellow bile I own a Schnoodle, 27 lbs. I am looking for a sister, (Yorkie) for him. He is 4 yrs old and has had the vomiting thing since he was a little guy. I feed him 5 to 6 times (small meals) a day of canned food and he always has dry food available. He only vomits once in a great while,:sickie: or if he eats something (like bird seed) that he should not eat. My vet said he has seen this in the small breeds, when their tummies are empty. He told me that I was doing the right thing. Hope this helps. |
