How did my baby die? 1 Attachment(s) My Ninja recently passed away on 3/16/09, he was only 10 weeks old and the Vet thinks that it was a gastrointestinal virus but they weren't sure and I was told to call back today to see the results, which I did. I called back and all of the results came back negative. He seemed healthy and active but that night, he would not eat, only drank a lot of water with karo syrup. Around 11pm he started having diarrhea (4x) and every time he did, he would cry. He vomited about twice (Bile and Foam). My boyfriend and I took him to the vet the next morning and they checked and said he had a fever of 104 (Not exactly sure). If it isn't Parvo or distemper, what could it be that was so deadly? I am devastated and I would like to know what took the life of my baby. |
I'm no help on this topic, but I want to say I'm so sorry for your loss :( |
Oh my I am so very sorry for the loss of your puppy. I have no answer's for you. You must be devestated. That's so sad. Hugs, |
I am so sorry for your loss :(. If there was a fever, it is possible it was an infection of some sort. Did the vet check the poo for parasites? Bc overgrowth of certain species of normal flora can be deadly, fast (ie. clostridium). Was there blood in the stool? Were limbs stiff - indicating an insect bite? Could he have gotten into anything? |
I have no info for you, but want to offer my sympathy. It's the worst feeling in the world to loose a pup you love. I'll say a prayer for you, God Bless |

Thanks everyone for the Sympathy. I don't think other people in real life understand my pain. He wasn't just a puppy, he was my child. |

Yes it was always foul smelling since day one. I thought he was just stressed out with his new environment and didn't think he needed any emergency care, so I made an appointment for Monday to get a regular check up. We ended up taking him a day earlier due to his diarrhea and vomiting |
104 is a very high fever in any dog and certainly indicates there was some sort of infection. Puppies with fevers and diarrhea dehydrate very quickly. Unfortunately without a necropsy it's likely you will never know what happened. I'm very sorry for your loss. |

:big_hug: I'm so sorry for your loss. :( |
I am so sorry for the loss of your precious Ninja. I don\'t know either, other than I don\'t believe he would have had a fever if he was hypoglycemic. Had to be some kind of infection, but not sure. |
