Cough Ok I need to figure this out. Please Help..My little 4month old pup with all of his shots gets this wierd cough, only when he sleeps. It almost sounds like it is post nasal drip...its a short thing that happens. He never gets out of air when he runs around like a maniac and he never coughs when exercising, so I don't think its Trachea collapse..Anyone have any suggestions. The doctor thought it might of been an ear infection and fluid flowing from that or maybe teething..Any ideas? Please help me!! Thanks..Barbara:animal-pa |
It could be that... it could also be kennel cough perhaps, which is basically a doggie version of the human cold. You could put a humidifier safely next to his crate and under a "cave" of blankets at night if he sleeps in a crate. Our vet even mentioned adding vicks liquid to the humidifier water. That might help ease his nighttime coughing or breathing issues. And/or take him into the bathroom with you when you take a nice steamy hot shower, morning or night. Otherwise you should probably just keep in good touch with your vet, and follow his instructions. If it is kennel cough, it can turn into pneumonia just like regular colds can in humans, so keep an eye on things if anything changes, and like I said, stay in touch with your vet. Don't worry too much, IMO, just keep an eye on things. Lauren & Nikko |
Take ur baby to the vet or call. he might need antibiotics if it's kennel cough and it can not be let untreated. Mine had it at 8 weeks and now at 4 months. if not treated it can become neumonia and ur puppy can die for that. I'm not trying to be mean but it can be serious. that's what my vet tells me |
