Pyometra warning!!! Hi Guys, for yorkie worshipers {like myself} everywhere, take heed to this! My babydoll{Kissy}is 15mos.old and I thought I had done everything possible to ensure she had a safe and healthy life but no one{including my vet}ever mentioned a life threatening illness they can get called 'PYOMETRA'.Be very sure to inquire about this from your baby's doctor because as we speak,Kissy is laying on my lap in a dire emergency situation with this infection that she got right after her first heat cycle. She is so very sick that she has went from 4.2lbs.to 3.4lbs overnight,is not eating or drinking and has a fever of over 104.I am so upset that no one mentions these unsuspecting illnesses and when our baby's get them,it's almost too late. Now we may have to hospitalize her, spay her and hope she pulls through. Please pray for my angel and hope that she pulls through this and as I said Please ask your vet, google it but get all the info you can on this subject to protect your precious babies.Tami in NC |
I'm so sorry Kissy is sick. We're sending prayers that she recovers quickly. |
I am praying for Kissy |
so sorry, keep us posted. |
Oh baby Kissy I am so sorry baby girl that you are going through this and your poor mommy.:( Praying that she pulls through this and please keep us updated. |
Prayer's coming for your baby. Hope she has a complete recovery. |
I'm sorry you (both!) are going through this. It can be very dangerous. As a matter of curiosity, why didn't you choose to spay her? This is one of the things my vet told me would be avoided ... but I had intended to have Bella spayed, anyway. Bella's only 4 lbs, too. I can't imagine her losing 25% of her weight ... she's already so small. The very best to you both. |
So sorry to hear about what Kissy is going through. I am glad that you posted this thread as I have never heard of this disease before. I will definitely keep you both in our thoughts and prayers. |
praying for you kissy! :hands::hands::hands::hands: |
Unfortunately, pyometra is very common in unspayed (usually older) females. Is there is a reason she isn't at the vet? Why didn't they go to surgery hours ago? |
I am so sorry about your Kissy. :big_hug: Your vet should have recommended spaying her before she ever came into heat. By doing so, you not only would have eliminated the risk of pyometra, but you also would have eliminated the chance of her ever getting mammary cancer. |
