How much vomiting and discomfort before going to er vet My 10 lb yorkie has not felt well since last night...only symptom though was loss of appetite, even her favorite treats. I was a little worried but since no vomiting or diarrhea it seemed okay. When I got home from work today and asked my husband if she was okay since he was home all day, he said she seemed fine. She seemed to be energetic and her usual self, but the minute we went outside she began to eat grass. She vomited shortly afterwards and then again about an hour later...basically just yellow thick bile. She just seems so miserable though....not able to settle down, walking with her tail between her legs, following me everywhere. I have 3 dogs...they all ate the same dinner last night (though not sure how much she ate), same treats, etc...the other two are fine. I have an er vet 10 minutes away but I dont want to jump the gun. If I had to I would give anything I had for her, but right now, money is short, my husband lost his job a few months ago and I dont want to spend money needlessly. Other times Ive taken them to the er vet they are better the next day and I often wonder if I wasted my money, or if they would have just gotten over whatever it was anyways. I know she's not yet dehydrated...she is drinking water and peeing and pooping normally. The only concerning thing is that she just seems so miserable. Any ideas if this sounds like something I need to do right now or would you wait. Do you hear any warning signs yet that would make you think its more serious? ( I know we never know and with these little ones things can change fast, which is why Im so careful) I just dont want to have to get up in the middle of the night and go in. Im a nurse and have been up since 6 am...Im exhausted and would rather deal with it now if it makes sense. Any advice? Thanks so much i-+ |
Eating grass would certainly make any dog vomit. If she is not vomiting all the time , and drinking water, pooping normally, and not having any more eposoides it might be fine to wait... However go with your gut instinct. A trip the ER vet is more expensive then going to your regular vet. can you take her to your reg. one? |
Sounds similar to what Cali has. She was fine yesteday in the morning but became lethargic, shakey and vomiting. Then she had a bloody poop. I debated taking her to the er vet and finally decided to since she looked so sick and would not eat or drink. They just examined her, gave her 2 injections and it cost 185.00. She seemed a little better today but now she seems sick again. It sounds like there is some kind of bug going around. Hopefully your baby will be ok and can either wait til tomorrow to go to your vet or not need to go. |
