reaction to rabies shot?? Need your help!! What are the signs that your dog is having a reaction to the rabies shot? Peppi is my cocker spaniel. She is 11 years old and got a rabies shot yesterday. In all those years she has never had a reaction to any shot. She was doing fine today, walking around, playing like normal. I just got back and she is now on her bed refusing to move and shivering. I took her temperature and it was 101.8, so no high temperature. I don't know what else it could be besides a reaction to the shot? She has always been so healthy and since this just came on today I am thinking a reaction to the shot, right? I am going to try to give her some benadryl to see if that will help and she doesn't improve soon I will take her in to the vet. Anyone have any suggestions on what this could be or what I can do?? |
Normally if they are having a reaction to a vaccine it will show up the same day/within a few hours. In the cases I've seen, there was some facial swelling and vomiting. I hope she's doing better, but if not take her to the vet and update us. |
Reactions can happen right after, not long after or a long time after. I imagine it is a response to the vaccine. I'd call the vet immediately. |
She could be experience aches and pains from the vaccine. My animals always use to sleep right afterwards for several hours. DEfinately call the vet and see what can be done to her her feel better. |
Hope she is feeling better. |
