Unsure wat (if anyting is wrong)... Hi Everyone, I may be over reactting but I am a little worried... Baxter is sleeping on the couch beside me right now but he is breathing very quickly and is little heart is beating rapidly as well. I am worried... is there anything I should be doing?? Any insight would be appreciated. Walter |
Can you take his pulse and resp.? How many breaths and beats per minute while relaxed or sleeping? |
He might be dreaming, but I agree w/ Crystal in finding out his heart rate. I might wake him up too, to check his status. |
He just took 87 breaths this last minute... when I was timing him the first time I noticed he changed his breathing pattern a couple of times. He kind of stuffed himself between the cushions on the couch which was probably putting a little pressure on his outsides. I pulled him out and she seems a lot better, breating at a much more normal rate... I will take his pulse next. |

his pulse is 112 (I can guarentee it was higher before) beats right now and he seems to be breathing normally now... He absolutely loves sticking imself inbetween the cushions but I think that was what was causing a restriction on his ability to breath properly. I will monitor it but thanks for the quick replies. It's really nice to know there is somewhere I can turn for questions like this (it's my first Yorkie). I'll update anything that that seems abnormal. |
Hey Ellie, Thanks for the info. Just to let you know the last time I counted his breating he took 30 breaths and his pulse was at 85 beats. I think he is OK... phew! :) Thank you so much! |
Just wanted to report that everything is normal with Baxter thie morning. I am guessing he might have had issues with the cushions of the couch or he might have been dreaming a bit (chasing blowing leaves again! :P). Just glad everything is OK. Walter |
