Omg. Gross gross gross
 
It's late at night and I had Mahina out late. Came home and she pooped... it had worms in it! Moving around, so gross.

I'm taking a stool sample to the vet TOMORROW as SOON as she poops.

I'm thinking she got this from my cat... in the past two days I've noticed my cat giving off these yellowish sesame type seeds. She's had this before and was treated. I don't know why she has this again!


She's supposed to get spayed on Thur... do you think they'll tell me to postpone it?

Worms are easily treated. I doubt they delay the surgery

I'm not. The breeder was from Hawaii. One of the names I considered for her was Luna (moon in spanish). I told the breeder and she told me the word for moon in Hawaiian. I loved it :D

Good luck with the worms, that is gross. Just thought you might like to know the Hawaiian word for worms is "Ko'e," sounds much prettier than worms, but I don't think you will want to change her name to Mahina Ko'e. :D

Can you tell me more abouth the yellow sesame type seeds? I think I've seen these in Bailey's poop - but the vet is not concerned??? The vet says she's eating them - but I don't know from where?

Sigh, so the vet closes in an hour and Mahina has yet to poop. I've fed her (which she only tends to eat on her time) and played with her. No poop yet.
I don't want to have to wait till Monday!

Hurry up Mahina, POOP!

They could also be tiny rice like segments, kind of what they resemble.

Does the vet say she's eating sesame seeds or something? I'd take a stool sample in and have it tested.

I've never seen them in her poop. My cat gives them off, she did it before and the vet said they're tapeworm eggs. She was treated, and now she has them again.

They get tapeworms from eating fleas. YUCK. I blame it on my cat who goes outside, even though they are all treated monthly. :rolleyes:

Yes, I've taken three fecal samples to the vet in the last three weeks. I never saw moving worms, but I have been seeing rice like things and yellow sesame seed things. She was tested for round worm, heart worm, whip worm and tape worm - and all three tests came back negative.

I just dunno - her diet is very restricted and her time in the back yard is always supervised by either myself or my husband. I just don't have a clue!!! At least she acts fine.

I think I would have her tasted for tape worm again, this sounds exactly like it.

The word WORMS just sends chills up my spine. I like the Hawaiian word better...

You can bring her in without her stool, and as gross as this sounds they insert a stick like thing up her pooper, and get enough to test it. Good luck.

Just thought I'd update, even though I'm a few days late.

I took it stool samples from Mahina and my two cats. Guess what they all came back NEGATIVE. :confused: I was thinking NO WAY.

I told the woman at the front desk, no way is it negative I saw actual worms in her stool. (Even though it was only twice) And my cat is giving off these sesame seed type things.

They had me speak to the vet. Guess what, stool samples can come back negative even if they have it. What they're looking for in the stool is the eggs, which don't always show up.

So, if you have a dog that you believe has worms, you've seen them and your test comes back negative, ask to speak to the vet, or be persistent.

In the end, she said that what I described to her was tapeworms, especially since I saw them, and they gave me some medicine.
