Well my yorkie has been doing this for 2 months now...I don't think its bad ,but here it goes...Its kinda hard to explain but i notice that he is doing this weird sound like weird sound that comes from his stomatch kinda and it goes to his mouth and comes out and he swallows it back in...I dont know how to explain that sound...

Sounds like he's regurgitating his food and swallowing it.

I agree, this could be reflux. Does it only happen certain times of the day? It could be that either there is too much time btwn meals - or - that one of the ingredients is not agreeing w/ the tummy. What are you feeding?

Well he does not do it right after he eats....He does it different times a day.....He is eating royal canine.....also chicken since he does now want to eat much of his puppy food.....i feed him 2 times per day...the first at 9:00am and the second at 5:00pm

is reflux bad? if so what is it?

While I feed RC to my dog some dogs do have a problem with it. I'm curious about the chicken you are feeding, how do you cook it, or do you give it raw? Remember chicken cooked in fat, like fried chicken could cause this. Perhaps you could find a food that he liked better. Is he gaining weight well?

Reflux is inflammation that causes the backup of gastric fluid into the esophagus.

Young puppies can have a weak schpincter (sp?) muscle that allows the fluids to come back up from the stomach. This muscle is like a little flap that keeps the fluids in their tummies.

You don't want the acid from his tummy coming back up all the time. It eats away at their esophagus

I far a gaining weight. I believe hes okay with that...I feed him chicken breast...I cut it into tiny little pieces...I just boil the chicken for 2 hours.

Okay question if my yorkie does have this....Do you think I should take him to the vet and explain the vet what is going on with Stinky?

Yes he should be diagnosed. If it is reflux...the acid will eat away at his esophagus. It can cause cancer. It also burns...have you ever had really bad heartburn?

The vet can provide you with information to prevent it and if it's merely his age and the weakness of his "flap"...he's likely to prescribe pepcil. A hernia is another cause of reflux.

wow...this is sad...i really did not think it could be this serious...I will take him for thing Friday morning since that is my day of work.....I hope he doesnt have it.....hearburn me no

Boiled chicken is great, I don't think you have to boil it for two hours though even if boiling a large breast. I just asked because some people give things like chicken Mcnuggets. :eek: Glad your checking this out with the vet. Best of luck.

I'm not trying to scare you...it's highly likely his age. He gets bigger, his muscle gets more developed and it's completely fine.

It does burn though...so pepcid would certainly help him feel better.

Smaller, more frequent meals may solve the issue as well. When they eat too much at once, they often get indigestion like we do;)
