Can dogs get people sick?
 
Everyone we've been around lately has been sick with this nasty cold, snot, fever, cough stuff and I heard a long time ago that dogs can catch people illnesses. Does anyone know if that is true? I don't want Curly Mac to get sick, especially being so young and little. Is this a myth or should I take some precautions?
Thanks for any advice.

It's not true. There are not many diseases that can be passed between humans and dogs. So don't worry! :)

There are a few things that dogs can give to humans but not colds or flus. Dogs cant catch anything from us

Colds and flus the answer is NO. Now ring worm yes, there are a few things. Dogs do get sick and other dogs can get sick from them, just like human to human

I agree, your pup is not going to catch a cold from people. But Winston has had colds before.

Hello, How did you know Winston had a cold? What were his symptoms? I think my sweetie has a cold. she sounds like she's congested, sneezing and has a wet cough, not like a dry kenned cough. Thanks for any advice/feedback...oh..how did they treat it? Medicine or just time?

He actually had a runny nose and no cough...just kind of laying around, not very active. The vet said as long as the discharge from his nose was clear...no treatment necessary, but if it had color to it, yellowish/grayish...then he would need an antibiotic. She also recommended using a humidifier...but I don't have one so I didn't use one. He felt better in a day or two. Hope your baby gets well quick!!!

there are some diseases that can be passed from dog to human and vice versa. Human colds and flus are not passed back and forth. However, some that can are tonsilitis, and dogs can become infected and become a carrier of strep that make humans sick.
