Coughing and we are iced in My cadee has a bad cough. I gave her a beneadryl (quarter of one) cause usually its due to the heating and air. Its getting bad and the vet cant get to her office any ideas or tricks i could try? :( |
I am sorry to hear that your Cadee is sick. Please please keep her very warm, there area few different things that can cause coughing one of the more serious being pneumonia, please let her get lots of rest and keep her warm just in case it is something more than a heating and air irritant. I hope that she feels better soon. Hugs to you and Cadee from me and Copper. |
Do you have a humidifier? If not, maybe you could put her in the bathroom and turn the tub or shower on hot so she can get some steam. Make sure she's drinking enough water. Are there any other vet offices you could call for advice if you can't reach your vet at home? |
The steam should help her until you can get her in to a vet. Good luck and keep us posted. |
I am so sorry to hear that. We live in the NE, and with this bad weather I have found that if I keep a heating pad on med-low lying around wherever she is, she takes full advantage of it. The first year I got her it was very cold and we did not keep the heating pad around and she got sick,I guess because she is so close to the ground. But since I have been leaving the heating pad out, she has not gotten sick once. I sure hope she gets better. Thoughts and hugs your way. |
If you don't have a humidifier, put a pot of water on the stove & get it simmering. While you're at it put some cloves & cinnimon sticks in it & your hoise will smell good too! |
Unless your vet has told you to- do not give her anymore human medication. It sounds like she has kennel cough- use a warm air humidifier and get her to the vet as soon as you can to prevent it from becoming pneumonia. |
They say if it is kennel cough you can rub their throat and it will make them cough, my vet told me that. I would recommend a hot steamy shower as well. |
How is she doing? |
