Throwing up after final puppy vaccination Please help someone. I'm so worried about my baby. He's 4 1/2 months old and just got his final puppy vaccination (aka annual vaccination). He started throwing up about an hour afterward and has thrown up about 3 times so far. He never threw up before with his previous shots. He's also very lethargic and was shaking a bit (although he could be kinda cold as he got a bath earlier). Is this normal after vaccinations? Please someone calm me down because I'm so worried about him! |
how much does he weigh? what color are his gums? I would call an ER vet and tell them he has had a reaction to his shots- see what they say- he is pretty young and that can be serious- will he keep anything down? Is he just throwing up bile? Have you tried to give him a treat or osmething like yogurt? |

Throwing up three times is a reaction in my opinion. I'd call the vet. They may have you bring him in or give him Benadryl at home or just watch his gum color. Is he swelling anywhere? Will his eyes focus on you? |
The first 3 times he threw up mostly his food, but then he threw up a small bit of white foamy stuff. Is that bile? Anyway, I decided that I would monitor him throughout the night, and if he threw up again I'd call the emergency vet, but thankfully he didn't. Right now it's around 5am and he seems back to normal. I checked his gums and they look ok to me. No swelling, and no focusing problems. His current weight as of yesterday is 5.7lbs (I was told based on his parents' weight he'd be around 7-9lbs fully grown, so the vet told me his weight is perfectly normal, considering I was concerned he hadn't been eating much due to teething). I'm praying he doesn't get sick again today. I'm going to call my vet when they open to see what they say about his reaction. Thank you for your replies. |
