Throwing up after vaccinations?
 
I just took Lucy to the vet at 8:30 pm for her annual vaccines. She got rabies, bordetello, etc. It's 2:30 am now and I woke up about 30 minutes ago because I heard her throwing up. There were about a dozen spots around the house from where she threw up. It was brown in color and the first several had undigested food in it. I took her outside and her stool was formed but smaller than usual. She's gagging now but nothing is coming out so I think most of it is out of her system.

Is this normal? I called the vet and they are closed until 6 am. Is there anything I can do until then?

Usually dogs will have a vaccine reaction 30 min after the vaccine is given. I would just give her small amounts of water, and pull her food. Call the vet, and ask them. Did she get into anything abnormal that could make her be throwing up!?

How is she now?
Even if she stopped throwing up, she is likely dehydrated and this could be an emergency.

Vaccinations should be separated by about two weeks. That many vaccines at once is too much on her and now you won't know what she reacted to...

Please get her back to the vet. That is a lot of times for a little thing to throw up. I hope she is feeling better and please update us.

Lucy was "fine" when I left for work this morning...no more vomiting and just resting. I left a message at the vet's on my way to work and STILL have not heard anything back. Lucy was a little shakey when I came home but I gave her a little nutrical and water and now she is acting fine...just laying in my lap and growling at outside noises (like usual). I will keep an eye on her and take her to the vet if needed.

Here's my issue now:

My 6 month old, Ella, will be getting spayed on Tuesday and she also needs her rabies vaccination. I am already nervous about the anesthesia, but now I am even more nervous because of the vaccine!
