I am so worried A couple of weeks ago Taylor peed in her sleep. I totally forgot about it. a one time thing. However she did it again, I forgot to mention it to him on friday when we were there for her check up and 3rd set of shots. SO I was at his office for a free puppy class and told him about it. She also drinks alot of water. He said well some puppies sleep so sound that they some times lose control. But to be on the safe side he wanted to get a glueclose check. It was 133 (normal). No worries, it was just what he said. Today she was sleeping in her kennel and all of a sudden barked to get out. (kind of an startled bark) We ran to go get her and she had peed in her sleep again. I am really getting worried. Just a few min. ago she was sleeping on the sofa next to me and she peed again ! I am calling the Vet in the morning, but does anyone have any suggestions? She did just get some more shots could this have something to do with it? The vet said is was ok to control her water intake. I thought I was doing that today, but she is still peeing alot. Please help me, why does this alway have to happen on the week end. |
I have never heard of a puppy sleeping so soundly that they urinate in their sleep. I wonder if she might have a bladder infection? |

a bladder infection was my first thought as well. It doesn't sound normal that they could do that, especially when it keeps happening. But if everything turns out ok, maybe try keeping her away from her water before she goes to sleep for the night and see if that helps. Kinda like what you would do when trying to potty train a child. |
I called the vet this morning and talked to the tech. She will give the vet the message and have him call me. She said it sounded like she was just drinking to much water (could be from the shots she had on friday). She does drink alot, especially since she got her shots. I am really monitoring her water, not restricting, but just making sure she is drinking because she is thirsty, not just drinking because it's my big brothers bowl and I want to be a big kid. So far good news ! She didn't pee in her sleep at all thru the night. Thank you for the Prayers please keep them coming! I'll let you know when I talk to the Dr. Tami <>< |
Hopefully she will continue to not pee in her sleep. Did the vet do a check of kidney values, like a BUN and createin? If she continues to have problems I would get complete bloodwork done. |
I agree with the others. It might be a bladder infection. Have her checked for that. |
I talked to the vet las night, He said he is not concerned. He thinks that the shots may have caused her to be a little more thirstier than normal ( said shots react differently on every pup). Plus she has been able to drink out of my other fur boys big bowl. which to her is fun and new and exciting so let me keep doing it until I pee the bed. Anyway, he said he want me to log a months worth. Note how many times it happens and what the circumstance were etc. He said yes it is true that this could be something to worry about if she was older, however given her age and excess water, he is thinking she's just a baby who wet the bed. He did say if it continues to become a every night or every other night thing he wants to see her and will run some tests. Thank you all again ! now I have some food questions I'll post on a different area. It's always somethin! |
I would still want kidney blood work done. Not to scare you but I had Dixie who was diagnosed at 6 months with congenital kidney failure so age does not always matter. If she continues please get the bun test done. Hopefully she is just fine. |
