My baby wont eat.. help me!!! okay so starting last night bella had a hypoglycemia bout and i syringe fed her through out the night and all this morning. but she kept throwing up everything i gave her and she looked horrible.... finally i called the vet and he told me to bring her in.. he said there's definitely some sort of infection which is probably why i couldnt get her to keep anything down so he gave her some antibiotics and something to settle her stomach.. but i'm so nervous that she's refusing to eat on her own.. what can i do and is there something else i can give her to keep her strength and weight up in the meantime??? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thanks |
maybe you need to give her nutri-cal in the meantime. you can buy it at petsmart or petco. it has a lot of calories in it. so that might help. |
yeah i give her nutrical on a regular basis anyhow because she's so tiny.. the vet weighed her in at a whopping 17 ounces lol.. i just wasnt sure if it was gonna be enough to get her through but now she's voluntarily eating.. thanks |

Boiled Chicken Try boiling a chicken breast in chicken broth and introduce very small pieces by hand. Good Luck |
thank you guys so much for the help.. and Bella absolutely LOVES the chicken lol |
If I have a baby that refuses to eat or has sugar drops, I always keep Pepto and Karo syrup on hand. Karo can bounce them back faster than anything else and I have only ever had one pup that threw it back up. Mine also like a little bit of plain vanilla yogurt sometimes, and the boiled chicken does work wonders too! |
We make our food for morning feedings: Ground veal nixed with shredded carrots, rice and bit of boiled chicken, at pm feeding they get a dry duck and potato food. There are many home recipes on this site just try doing a search fro recipe! |
I am glad that bella is eating. When Suzi went through the same thing, the vet told me to with hold food for 24 hrs. Becasue the stomach needs to settle. But, with your being so young and tiny, i'd give the nutri-cal, and offer small bits of food every hr. It sounds like Bella is doing better now though , here's hoping she is not vonmiting anymore. :aimeeyork |
Thanks mscat.. Bella's not throwing up anymore.. the vet gave me some pills to give her for four days to get her stomach settled and they've worked really well.. so Bella's back to her spoiled little self |
