They took Carter to the breeders and buried him right next to his mommy. His mommy died during labor after delivering 4 boys and 1 girl. All healthy! Daddy was 4 lbs and mommy almost 7. So the sweet little angel is next to his mommy which helps them feel a little better. Alicia is a dog groomer and hears tragic stories all the time but said never in a million years did she think this could happen to them and she is blaming herself for being at work and not home...she feels like a bad pet owner... she feels maybe she could of prevented it and wishes they would of took him to a vet hospital...She said if the vet would of told them he needed a hospital they would of took him. She said the vet made them feel it was unnecessary and he just needed time to recover. They said they so badly wanted to believe that!! My son is blaming himself...and the vet. Grandpa is taking it hard but no one is blaming him cause they all just love him so much. Of course i blame myself... i should of MADE THEM TAKE HIM to a hospital. But I have this feeling that maybe his injuries were too serious for any help...but unfortunately we will never know...
They were so happy when they finally got him 2 days ago and such proud parents!!
Yes it is a tragic accident and thank you all for your well wishes and helping me with advice and words of wisdom!! Please use this thread to help someone else!!! How heart breaking to hear his momma had passed too. I think that it is sweet that his body is now at rest next to her.

I will pray that the guilt you are all walking around with will dissipate quickly - it is a tragic accident. And I think something many have now learned from. :hands: :hands:

Oh my dear God...I am so terribly sorry for the loss of Carter. Please give your son and his wife my deepest sympathy. How utterly tragic...how very sad. But I do really believe the vets were trying to tell them his injuries may be too severe to save him and he was just so tiny, there was nothing that could be done for him...take him home and love him...and hope for the best. Unfortunately the best was not meant to be.
I love that he is buried with his birth mommy now, together, forever. May they both Rest In Peace...may you and your family find peace. Bless his sweet little heart.

They did not want to get another puppy.... they felt like they could never replace Carter... they felt like everytime they would look at the new one they would think of him..... but the breeder called them last night and offered them his brother - she just felt so badly for them and knew what a wonderful home they would provide. They adopted his brother and named him Joey and they are in LOVE !!! This is occupying their thoughts/time/attention....
Grandpa is still not feeling good about what happened.... we keep talking to him and reassuring him!

I'm glad to hear they got Joey! although he won't replace Carter he will keep their minds off of him some and keep them occupied..they will love him just as much:)

I'm so glad to hear they got his brother! Everyone is different, but a new puppy helps me to deal with the loss and heartache. That was very sweet of the breeder to offer him to them. I bet they will be very protective with sweet Joey and love him very much!

I hope Grandpa feels better soon. It would be very hard to be in his position. So heartbreaking!

Wow, that is wonderful! This will help them heal and get on with enjoying "puppy-love".

Oh, Mary, I am so terribly sorry. Please reassure your kids that little Joey will never "replace" their Carter's place in their hearts but will create his own. I am praying for you all during this difficult time. Also, please give Grandpa an extra hug for us. I can only imagine the pain that he has suffered too. God bless you all.

I just came across this thread. So sad to read this. I'm glad they took another puppy.

As for the vet not doing anything, I think the vet knew that if there were internal injuries, that he would not be able to save him anyway, so did not put the couple through the expense of xrays.

Welcome home Joey...remember...he is not a replacement, he's an addition!!! Hope grandpa can get over this tragedy...I will keep him in my prayers...

So glad they have a new yorkie to love. What a kind thing fir the breeder to do. I'm praying for grandpa. May he too be able to bond with Joey. I'm imaging that Joey will bring much joy to those who get to interact with him
