I am so sorry - i could not get my lap top to charge!!! Husband finally took pliers to the charger!!!
He seems to be doing better today.
The breeder was with them last night and they were on the phone with breeders vet from 11 to midnight....This vet was wonderful!!
They would not listen to me about 24 hour care hospital since both vets didnt recommend it... crazy HUH? I am embarrassed that i could not reason with them! They both said that the vets would of sent them if neccessary. Both vets (one on phone and other that saw them) told them that all the hospital would do was keep him warm and charge them a fortune....(?)
They saw the 2nd vet from last night early this morning. (had an appointment from last night) Nothing is broken, no blood in the stool, he was able to drink 20 mg of a nutrient/water from a dropper, his temp was 102, not in shock, he is still crying. They are on there way to the breeders vet for a 2nd opinion and to see if anything else they can do.
He is not walking much. The vet from this morning sent them home with a liquid nutrient called hi kal. (?) They are to give this to him 5 to 10 times a day. Vet gave 2 shots this morning - one was to hydrate him and the other was an antibiotic. They were told to keep him warm so that he doesnt go into shock and that he needs time to heal.... (?)
My son is going to the first vet from last night to complain and yell at them.... i think he needs to vent and he still can not believe how uncaring that vet was!! He wants to find out if that vet was the owner!

I am so glad the hear the puppy made it through the night. He certainly is a fighter. We so appreciate the update. Please keep the updates coming, this is certainly a scary situation. The Hi-Kal is to prevent hypoglycemia, which many of us were worried about. The sub-q fluids will help prevent dehydration, which could be devestating as electrolyte imbalances caused by dehydration can cause cardiac arrest. Poor puppy.. I hope the grandfather hasn't beat himself up too bad, I can't imagine how guilty you would feel.

In route to vet he died. They just called me sobbing. You guys were right...

We won't ever really know if the vets could've saved him but that was obviously his best chance. I really question these vets.

They are beyond hysterical.... i am heartbroken. They are on there way home. I dont know what to do...they dont want me to come... What can i say to ease there pain

On what to say: First what not to say don't talk about all the "should ofs" - because you & I believe they should have went to the ER Vet - it was probably the best chance for survival. But your son is already beating himself up enough I'm sure - and even the ER Vet might not have been able to save this little life

Just reassure your son that you are there for him. He knows this was an accident. Just love him (In time he will be ready for another little one) I can understand why he doesn't want you to come (but as a mom you want to be there to comfort) - but he is probably physically & emotionally exhausted from the last day & watching over this little one. Your son probably wants to go curl up & rest. Give him space. Maybe tomorrow you can make them dinner or something.
