Help.. Zoe had blood in her poop.. I am freaking out right now. Zoe was acting a little weird about 30 minutes ago. She started shaking while up on our bed and then it went away. Then about 10 minutes later she pooped on our bed a soft, mucusy poop that smelled horrid. It almost looked like clotted blood. I don't know what to do. I cleaned it up and cleaned her up and she seems ok right now. HELP. Has anyone experienced this? Could she have eaten something she shouldn't have eaten? |
Blood is never a good thing. I would definitely call the vet! |
I would take her and a stool sample, if possible, to the vet. |
Could be lots of things causing the problem including an infection. Take her to the vet today. Keep us posted on how she is!:( |
Well, I noticed this morning that she had pooped last night in the living room and and it looked like it was a somewhat normal with a muccus type coating on it. She seems to be acting much better today than she did yesterday. I think while she was out in the porch yesterday, she may have swallowed a piece of an acorn. (I could be wrong but I think this because I noticed when I was cleaning her after her accident yesterday she had a hard, dark piece of something stuck to her and It looked like a piece of an acorn) Could that be what irritated her and caused her to have that poop? I am going to keep an eye on her the next few hours and see how her poop is next time. Obviously, if it's the same, i'll take her in. Thanks :aimeeyork |
It sounds like she is doing better. It may just have been the acorn, and it was alittle hard for her to get out, which caused the blood. I hope she is feeling better, keep us posted. :) |
Thank you. She seems a lot better. I will keep you posted. Hopefully she progresses throughout the day. :) |
I am happy that Zoe is feeling better. |
Bright red blood in the stool is scary, but usually isn't serious if you only see it once or twice. It can just mean she has a tummy upset (acorns would do it!). Black tarry stools indicate blood is actually being digested which is much more serious. If she continues to have a bloody stool, though, it could be HGE. Yorkies are prone to it and it is very serious. It can be fatal if not treated quickly. Here is some information so you know what to watch out for: Hemorrhagic Gastroenteritis (HGE) |
Thank you. She hasn't pooped yet today. She ate this moring and a little in the afternoon but hasn't pooped yet. I'm going to take her out in a few to see if she will go and see how it looks. Quote:
