Most likely, IF it is just an irritated GI, they will take his food and water away for 12 hours, give something like pepto, maybe antibiotics and then start him on an intestinal formula from the vet... However, it could be something much more serious, and it's worth taking him in before it becomes a true emergency. Also, you may want to consider changing dog food.. not sure what brand you have him on now, but Ceasar's isn't very high quality. There is so much info here about dog food! BTW- Welcome to YorkieTalk!!! |
diahreha in 2 year old 3 lb yorkie My Maggie has had diaharea for 2 days. Is it ok to give her pepto bismol? Your toughts. |
When you change food, you need to do it very gradually, their systems can't take the change other wise. I would, boil chicken and white rice. (No seasonings at all) I mix the water the chicken boiled in to the chicken and rice to make a little watery stew...give your baby small amounts often. And I would go to a vet. My vet gives water shots under the skin to ensure they dont get dehydrated. There is a canned food that is chicken and rice made for diarraeh. My dogs love it and it always helps. ( can't remember the name of it but it is sold in a nice dog store) |
Hello and thanks for your replies. We took Buddy to the vet and they did a test on his stool and found roundworm. They put him on medicine and told us to feed him boiled rice and boiled ground meat for a few days. Everything is back to normal now. |
