2 month old yorkie throwing up and diarrhea My little boy Rocky is sick he has been throwing up and has diarrhea. He drinks water just fine but I tried to give him some dry dog food to absorb the acids in his tummy but he wont take it. I'm scared he ate something he shouldn't have, I found some Lays potato chips on the floor in the kitchen my son must have dropped I'm thinking maybe he ate them and the salt is making him sick. I asked my son if he noticed the puppy eating or chewing on anything that might have made him sick and he said he seen a chewed up band aid in his room maybe he swallowed a piece of that , can that be dangerous? Please help I'm freaking out. Thanks in advance |
I'm sorry nobody has replied yet... I wish I had some good advice for you, but I am a new yorkie (and puppy) owner. But I might be able to predict what questions you'll be asked... How much does he weigh? The tinier the pup, the faster things can go downhill for him, from what I understand, and the more cautious you have to be with their health. How many times has he vomited so far, and in what time frame? How many diarrhea poos, and in what time frame? I really wish I could actually tell you something helpful, but I wouldn't know what to do either. IMO, it's a good sign that he's drinking so he hopefully won't get dehydrated, but then again that might have something to do with the potential excess salt. I suppose in reality, when in doubt, call your vet (or an emergency vet place). Good luck... I hope he's ok! Keep us updated, and hopefully you'll get some other advice from the people here on YT. Everyone's sooooo wonderful and helpful here, when they're awake :-) Lauren & Nikko |
Anytime such a young pup is throwing up or having loose stools, it can be an emergency. They can dehydrate very quickly and since he hasn't completed his vaccines yet, it could be something very serious. He needs to see a vet immediately. |

Please let us know what the vet says. |
I would get him into the vet as soon as possible since he is so young. It is better to err on the safe side and have him checked out. I hope he is feeling better soon. |
We are on our way to the vet it is 8:30 am hear and our appointment is at 9:30 and Rocky has been drinking water I thank you all for your help and I will keep you all posted as to how he is doing. |
Hay all, Well Rocky was diagnosed with Parvo and is currently staying over night at the hospital although it is a very hard thing my baby and I are going threw I am very grateful for this forum and the people who have responded to my post with concern. Oh my goodness, I'm so glad you took him to the vet right away. I figured that's what everyone would say... and it's certainly always the safest thing to do, whenever you're in doubt, and especially for such a young puppy (I missed that he was only 8 weeks!). I sure hope he's going to be OK - sounds like you and your vet have a handle on things now. I don't know much about Parvo except that it's quite difficult. I'll be thinking about him (and you) tonight. :-) Good luck, and please do let us know how he's doing when you hear more. Goodnight, Lauren & Nikko |
I am so sorry for you and your family. This is heartbreaking, but thank God you got him into the vet early. |
I am sorry to hear that the baby has Parvo...hopefully it was early enough that he will pull through. Please keep us updated. Sending lots of hugs and prayers your way!!! |
:( I'm sorry your baby is sick . Please keep us updated ((( hugs))) |
Hi, I just wondered how he was doing? |
Iam so sorry your baby is so sick, praying for him :hands: |
Rocky is home now. Thank you all for your support . I went ahead and got a second test done on him from another vet and the test results showed he didn't have Parvo, Thank God. It was as I thought salt poisoning and he is better now, he is a little week but extremely happy to see me and is very energetic wagging his little tale and crying for joy to see his family. The animal hospital credited the cost of the hospitalization to his vaccines which was a nice thing they did. I just want to thank you all again and again for your kind works and sympathy. I will post pics of him soon have a great holiday everyone.:thumbs up |

So glad he's ok, do you mean the animal hospital took care of the costs? If so, that's really great too. |
thank gosh! |
Similary situation Hello, I hope your baby is feeling better! My 3 month old baby got into something (meat? cookie sprinkles? not sure..) on the 22nd and has been sick since early hours on the 24th. I am curious to know what you did in your situation with the lays chips, and how long it took for your dog to recover? Please give me some answers so I can sleep tonight! Happy Holidays! |

How is your baby doing now? If he's throwing up, he could get dehydrated quickly. I would call the emergency vet to get their advice. all the best. |
Thank you so much My baby is doing better today. He had a hop in his step and is alert. Just very sleepy. He is not crying, or moaning but has been very quiet. (He is a sleepy sucky quiet baby to begin with) I am definitely going to call the ER for some advice as well as call my parents regualr vet instead of my new one. If he hasn't gotten any better by Monday will take him to vet to get all fixed up. I fed him 6ml of Pedialyte and 6ml of baby food about 20mins ago he is sleeping now. I also gave him a drop of honey on his tongue for his sugar levels. He had some baby food, water, pedialyte, pepto bismol earlier during the day to help. He spit up once but it was very small and just looked like the baby food because he is not used to it. He is keeping everything down now though, and does not have diarreah, or any blood in anything. Thank you for all your support. Happy Holidays! |
waooh that really scares me cuz peanut is feeling that way...:( oh my god 2 of my friends dogs got parvo and lived around...shes so tiny...oh what a mess im going tomorrow for sure... |
