Hypoglycemia maybe? My Yorkie< Little Boy, had a problem with Hypoglycemia when we first got him . He was 1lb and it was a constant struggle. He ended up in a incubator a the Hypoglycemia at one point. He has been doing so much better since he began eating on his own. I came home from work Thursday and he wasn't at the door jumping all over me so that was the first sign that something was fishy. I call him and as I turned around I saw him in the hallway peeking around the corner. I first thought he had gotten ahold of a paper towel and had it in his mouth but as I picked him up i saw that it was foam. I immediately got the Karo syrup and water and began chasing with both. At first he kept throwing up foamy thick liquid but it stoped and he was able to hold down the liquid. He was eating within 15 minutes or so. Has anyone ever heard off this type of an effective from Hypoglycemia before. He has been tested prior for any type of parvo etc.. |
I don't have any advice to offer you, only sympathy! Poor little one. I hope he feels better soon. Someone will have some good advice soon, but it sounds like you are doing everything right in case it is hypo. I do know that Gizmo will sometimes spit up a little when he is tired or overly excited. Maybe it's something like that? |
I am very sorry such a scary experience. it does sound like A low blood sugar eposoide. AND the smaller a Yorkie is , the more prone they are to Hypo. Be sure that your tiny one is eating more often, and do have the emergency items on hand at all times. He is just so small, that he is at a great risk for these hypo attacks. |
Foam would concern me. Are you sure he didn't have a seizure? When he had hypo before and you gave him sugar, did he snap out of it immediately? |
