I'm probably worried about nothing, but... where's the pee? All right, maybe I'm overreacting, but I want to ask you all this anyways. We just picked up our new pup at about 6pm today, took him to the vet who said he was looking GREAT, then drove him back home. It's now 11pm, and he has pooped once, but he hasn't peed yet... ??? I was under the impression dogs peed all the time, mostly in places you don't want them too, lol. He's eaten a bit of his dry food, and seems to be drinking plenty. But he also has pretty much zero interest in exploring... just wants to curl up on something soft and be sleepy, basically. I suppose it's slightly possible we missed the peeing because he has such stubby tiny little back legs maybe I wouldn't see the squat? But my eyes have been glued to him constantly these past five hours. Question is, when do I start worrying about the peeing? If he hasn't peed by [fill in the blank time], worry and call the vet. Can somebody fill in the blank for me? Thanks, Lauren |
Hahaha, yep, I was worried for nothing. Nevermind... after a full EIGHT hours, he finally went pee. At twelve weeks, I didn't realize they could hold it in for that long! Perhaps this is a good sign that I won't need to be waking up in the middle of the night too often like I thought I would have to at first. :-) Lauren |

My puppy was like that at first and I thought the same thing, maybe I wont have as hard of a time as I first thought. But boy did that change, now I ask myself how can such a little girl go so often lol Good Luck :) |
Hahaha, yeah... well... just trying to stay positive here. Cleaning up poop and pee has never been one of my favorite things to do, and it still isn't. So far there's been more using the bathroom outside than inside, so I'm going to mark that down as a positive too! *Sigh* I don't know what I've gotten myself into here. Stick with it! If you put in the time/energy/commitment up front, you will be rewarded with a well-mannered and loving companion. Housebreaking is difficult, but worth it to be able to allow your dog to live in the house with you and be a full member of the family. You get out what you put in. :) |

Thanks guys. :-) I know that no matter how much poo and pee I have to clean up, my little man will be worth it - he IS worth it. It would just be soooo much easier if we could talk to them. "Hey, do you have to pee now?" "The pee goes outside, not half next to your water dish and half into your water dish." "Cutie, it's gross when you step in your wet stinky poo. So stop doing that." LOL, they're so human, yet so much still animals. Lauren |

LOL I have 4 and I swear I am picking up poop, changing pee pads and letting them out non stop, but they are so worth it. Can't wait to see pics of your baby. |
