I am happy that Bucky's surgery went well . |
How's Bucky feeling today? Has Mama calmed down? |
I'm so sorry I missed all of this. I know how it feels to be able to hear other people say they've been in your shoes so I wish I would have been here to tell you our story. About 18 years ago my toy poodle got into a "scrap" with my grandparent's German Shepherd. This GS, Sam, would not have intentionally ever harmed Dax (my poodle) - he was actually Dax's protector - BUT Dax took away a big bone Sam was chewing on and well, Sam tried to tell him "no". I know he could have literally taken off Daxton's head with one bite but what happened was Sam's tooth knicked Dax right above the eye and went just deep enough to sever the blood vessels that run to the eye. We knew within a few days though that the blood flow to the eye was gone. Our vet did see him immediately after it happened but we waited a few days to see if the eye would "die". When we saw that it was, we had the choice of taking the eye out and sewing it shut or getting him an artificial eye. We live close to Texas A&M Vet School so we went with the artificial eye option. What they do basically is take out the eyeball, scoop out the inside and then fill it with a prosthetic and reattach it. The result is a a cloudy eye that looks like it has a cataract but at least he still had an eye. Granted this was quite a long time ago but the surgery only costs around $300 - I was surprised at that. This all happened before he was even a year old and his eye lasted until his passing 15 years later. I'm assuming, if I've read right, that you ended up having his eye sewn shut, right? I hope he's still doing well and healing quickly. I'll be thinking of ya'll! |
Update! 1 Attachment(s) Bucky is doing great! He bounced right back and is playful as ever. Attached are pictures of the cutest yorkie lamp that I have ever seen and a self propelled yorkie vacuum (funny it only picks up food? |
