:| Given Shelby's situation, she was brought back to the breeder. For the record, she was 1 lb 4 oz today, so probably around 1 lb when we got her. She was 7 weeks old when we got her as well. At the sight of her brother and sister, Shelby did not even get agitated, she just stared at them. The breeder gave her some NutriCal and we both hope it will help save little Shelby. She will be under observation at the breeder's house for the following week, and he will take care of seeing the vet with her if need be. Thanks for all your help, I will keep you all posted on her situation. P.S Flakes, the breeder does have a refund policy, he is very nice and understands our concerns... Take care all Pete |
Pete, I'm glad to hear the breeder is going to take care of this situation for you. Were her brother and sister similar in size? We will keep our fingers and paws crossed here for Shelby. |
It sounds like you have a caring breeder - I hope he can treat Shelby - she could have a little parasite also - it sounds exactly like my Chanel was when we brought her home and she had coccidia - At least the breeder knows what to do and we can hope he takes care of her right away - I know that had to be hard for you ....I hope you get your baby back and she's healthy |
=) We got news from Shelby... she is in great shape. She fired right back up after giving her some nutrical. She played with her brother and sister all afternoon and seemed very much in shape. She ate a whole lot according to the breeder. She had no temperature and everything seemed alright... She might have been pulled from the litter a little too early. We will be getting her next week as she will stay under observation at the breeder's home. She was around 6 oz lighter than her syblings... and they were leaving at the end of this week. I hope everything will be back to normal when we get her back! Thanks all, take care! Pete |
I'm so glad to hear that you have a caring breeder that was willing to help you out! Kudos to you for taking such good care of your new baby. I hope everything ends up well for all of you, and BTW welcome to YT! |
I am very glad that she is doing better . |
My boyfriend & I just bought a teacup yorkie today and little Rocky is having the same problems. Rocky is 2months old. He won't eat anything, all he does is sleep and he constantly shivers. We're worried too. He also coughs alot like he has something stuck in his throat. We are taking him to the vet tomorrow. Your not alone. |
Our baby Mignon came home with us at 10 weeks and was fine for 2 days - eating the food the breeder gave us. Then she just stopped eating - same symptoms as your Shelby. We did the honey, Nutrical and Pedialyte (thanks to this site!) and that perked her up temporarily. We took her to the vet and she had a mild bacteria infection. He gave us Amoxcillin and a can of Science Diet A/D (anorexic diet). She absolutely loved it and after a few days started eating her regular food - - and has been eating like Miss Piggy ever since! Hope Shelby is feeling better real soon! |
pups These pups were all too young to leave the breeder..I do not care how well they were doing at the breeders home..it is very stressful to leave so young. When will breeders put the welfare of the animal over theirs...each week the breeder keeps a pup it cuts into the profit, it is more vet care, grooming, cleaning up..etc. A stud client had a litter of 4. 3 were quite small, I told her not to sell until 12/16 weeks. Stud clients vet said it was fine to sell at 8 weeks...so pups left on Friday..by Monday stud client said her phone was ringing non-stop from all 4 owners...she had nothing but trouble, worry and stress for several weeks..not worth it for all involved. |
