Foamy liquid vomit, smells like bleach My 13 week old puppy (2.6 lbs) started vomiting liquid/foamy clear stuff. Smells like bleach but I watch her closely and know she hasn't been into anything more dangerous than a dried up little frog I took from her many hours ago. She also had one bout of diahrrea with this. I can hear her stomach gurgling before the vomiting starts. I gave her a couple of drops of Pepto, but am unsure of what else to do. She is currently sleeping in my lap, seems like the worst is over. |
Is your water chlorinated? I know sometimes my water smells pretty bleachy and I have to let it run for awhile to get rid of the smell....I have no other idea on what to do so I'm bumping this up. |
Sorry to hear your little one is unwell...the only advice I can really give u is to get her to a vet. I know these little ones can go down hill fast, so even though your baby seems ok at the moment its still best to get her checked out. I hope she's feeling better soon. |
Make sure she's drinking, as you know they can get dehydrated really really fast. If it doesn't run it's course pretty quickly, I would definitely take her in. Also, with her being so young and small you need to think about her sugar. You might want to rub some Nutrical on her gums. |
Whenever a pup has vomiting or diarrhea, they really do need to see a vet. Welcome to YT. :) |
Sometimes they throw up bile when hungry. I would make sure your baby is eating frequently and get her checked by the vet. Hope she is ok |
Welcome to Yorkie Talk! Sounds like an empty tummy and throwing up bile. Make sure she's eating and drinking. Watch for low sugar and dehydration. Give her a dose of Nutri-Cal just in case. If she's not better this morning, I would make a trip to the Vet. They can go down quickly so keep an eye on her. |
Juliet is well now, thank you. I called the vet this morning, they say I did everything right last night and gave me instructions for the day. Juliet vomited liquid and foam for two hours straight, diahrrea during the worst of it. I never knew what caused it, but she did visit with the little neighbor girls yesterday and possibly got a Halloween treat. Juliet likes ice, and otherwise she GULPS water, her normal gung-ho behavior. So I offered her on an ice cube and let her take a few licks, then waited ten minutes. Once she could go 10 minutes without vomiting, I allowed her more licks. This made her feel so much better. A little bottom bath, a tinkle stop, then we went back to bed. She woke up starving, and after some Nutrical, I fed her soft overcooked rice - made with chicken broth and water. She has tolerated this well today and drinks water freely. She's slinging her toys around and is as bouncy as ever tonight, albiet a little thinner. After a day of rest for her tummy, tomorrow Juliet will go back to her normal hard food. If she seemed wimpy or still not well, she would have gone to the vet today, in fact I got two check-up calls from their office today. Thank you all so much for your concern. |
Glad she is feeling better! |
