sick 7 yr old female yorkie Hello, I am new to the forum.. I am trying to find someone who may have the similar problems. My 7 year old female yorkie has been sick for about 5 days now. She 1st vomitted 5 days ago, then she was very very lathargic the next day. I am not sue if the vomitting is realted to her current problem because she has not vomitted since. She walks hunched over, tail down, head down. She will shiver off and on. Today I noticed blood in her stool for the 1st time. We have been to the vet three times and the only thing she can see is she has a degenerative disc. She gave us meds for that (metacam) but it has done nothing in 2 days. She has ruled out liver and kidney problems. She gave her an enema on her 2nd visit in case she was constipated. Xrays did not show anything but the disc problem. I don't think the disc is the real problem here. Anyone have any thoughts? Very concerned Tom |
I am sorry I cannot offer any help...i just wanted to welcome you to YT...although under such bad context...and i hope someone can offer some help or advice...please keep us posted! |
sick yorkie Thank you... I have been reading a lot of the posts... This is an awsome way of exchanging info about yorkie's and meeting other dog lovers... I will make sure to visit here often Tom |
be prepared to get addicted...YT is really addicting...i can't manage to get anything done since i am on here like 24x7...hehe... |
I dealt with something similar to this last year. It ended up being a doggie flu. Has the vet check this? It took about a week and a half for it to run its course, and it was passed on to a couple of the other dogs. Just a thought. Welcome to YT, it's an awesome place! |
Sorry your baby is sick. Sounds like your vet has done a lot of testing. Hopefully she will get over it soon |
Hi Tom...welcome to YT. How is your girl today? The disc may be the majority of the problem...her walking hunched over, tail down and shivering can all be signs of pain. I'm not sure about the vomiting and blood in the stool though. Has she been straining to go to the bathroom? It could be possible if she's having a lot of pain from the disc that she is straining to go and that could cause blood in the stool. You might want to ask your vet about that to be sure...hopefully that's all it is and it will put your mind at ease. I hope she feels better soon. |

Metcam, I believe has to build up (I could be wrong though). Is there anything that can be done about the disc  |
