tick problem my 3 month old puppy got bit by a tick under her chin and we removed the whole thing, but now she has a lump were the tick was removed anyone have any idea, she did recieve the lymes shot a few weeks ago. maybe this is normal from a tick bite, i dont know. thanks :aimeeyork gracie |
Yes it is, some dogs react more intensely then others. Usually you will see or be able to feel a lump till the reaction to the bite disipitates? spelling. The body reacts to what ever may be left behind at the site. I am glad you had the lymes vaccine though, that was good. |
I had the exact same thing happen to Tino earlier this week. I found a tick under his chin and was able to remove the whole thing..but he had a lump under his chin at the bite site for a few days. He had his lyme shot, but we called the vet just to be sure. She said that the shot is only about 85% preventative and told us that we should keep an eye on him. She said to watch for any lethargic behavior...or anything else out of the sorts for him. We are going to have him checked in about two months...any time earlier could give a false positive. She said that if...God forbid, he was positive, he could be treated with antibiotics. It was so scary and I sorta freaked out...but she made me feel much better! Wishing you and the little one all the best! |
