HELP! Newborn puppies with diarrhea?? Pixie's pups are 4 days old, and they have diarrhea. What could be causing it? and is there anything i can do? |

Don't really know but could it be worms or cocciadia (not sure of spelling on that). I think I would call the vet asap as I would guess this is life threatening for ones this tiny. :( Please keep us posted, I hope things work out for you and your little ones. :( |

The fecal elimination will be pretty soft on a puppy that young but mom should be cleaning them often enough that you would never see it. Is the mommy not cleaning them? If they have worms you can use Pyrantel to ease the symptoms but they will return in a few days. You would need to treat the puppies and also Mom. Mom would get Panacur for three days and the puppies would get Pyrantel the first day and then possibly again on the third day depending on what your vet says. If you have a first time mom she may not be quite up to speed yet. I wouldn't panic but I would weigh the puppies twice daily to see if they are gaining consistently. If not get them straight to the vet. |

Pups that young are very fragile - I would take them to the vet ASAP. |

If it isnt worms, get some Albon. I always keep albon on hand. |
