Two weeks of Diarrhea after boarding... Hello, We boarded our 9 mo. old yorkie for the first time almost three weeks ago at a reputable kennel in town. It was for five days, and we sent his own food and they play with the dogs a lot and all of that. However, we got him back and he has had diarrhea on and off since then. First, they said it may be due to stress, so we waited .. and waited.. and waited. He had never had diarrhea before. He has also been neutered between his boarding and now, but I can't imagine that had anything to do with it now. He has been pooping in the house, something he had never done before. We're trying to find out what's going on, if this is something common or if we should be taking this up with the kennel. Can anyone help? Is there anything else to try? |
Hi and WELCOME :). You can easily find out what's going on by putting some stool in a plastic baggie and bringing it to the vet for a fecal test - which you should do asap. He's probably in rough shape if he's had diarrhea for 2 weeks. It could be giardia - and at his age (bordering puppyhood, but an adult really) - he may not be able to fight it on his own like most adults, and may need meds. It could be other things too though, but you really need to do a fecal. Honestly, if it were me and it'd been this long - I'd bring him in. How is his appetite, drinking, energy, color of gums? |
