Tetley ate maple tree 'helicopter'
 
My husband said Tetley just threw up before I got home tonight, and that there was a maple tree helicopter in there. You know those little whirly things that spin as they fall from the tree? I did some searching on whether they were poisonous, and I couldn't find much. One site even suggested roasting them and using them in a salad so I'm guessing they're not too toxic...but the list of poisons on this site names the Red Maple. I don't know what kind of maple tree this came from, whether it was a red maple or not, but can I assume they mean the leaves are poisonous and not the seeds? :confused:

Tetley seems like he's doing okay - just sleeping and breathing normally, just looking like he feels sick and doesn't want to be bothered. His eyes are clear and his gums look a bit paler than usual but they're still pink.

Does anyone have any experience with their dog eating these things?

my friend's pug eats them regularly.. so i think it's relatively ok!

Oh thank God! I couldn't find anything ominous on the net about them but I wanted to hear from anyone else who ever had their dog eat them! He threw it up pretty much intact, so I'm guessing it was just really irritating his stomach. Poor guy. Thanks for the quick response. :)

He's playing a bit and just drank some water so I think he's doing better.

ya. my friend's dog eats them.. and then throws them up :p i think it's fine since he brought it up it's not like you saw him eat it and aren't sure how he will react.. you know.. he pukes :p i hope he feels 100% in the morning :)

Roxie has chewed on them several times and been ok. Tonight she got a hold of a piece of roof shingle (we're having a new roof put on) and I found her chewing it, so like you I am watching her carefully. The things they will eat amazes me. Hope your baby feels better.

Happy to report Tetley's feeling much better today. He certainly gave me a scare last night though. Bet that's the last time he eats one of those! Silly pup. :rolleyes:
