Sick Puppy? Hi Everyone, Our little Fenway is 5 months old we have had him for about two months now. Today he has thrown up 3 times, and once on Sunday while we were gone for the day. We are thinking it may have to do with the treats we give him since he is going to the bathroom outside now he always gets one when he comes in. We started with IAMS puppy biscuits when we first got him and we break them in half then as he was teething more we switched to a softer one called beggin wraps which we also broke in half, but we stopped giving him those when he puked one day after running around a lot and saw he didnt digest it. We also had switched to those because he had diarreha when we were giving him the IAMS. So my husband tried to give him a baby carrot the other day and he loved it so we gave him a couple of those as treats, but when he puked today the first two times it was carrot. (sorry for the details). His food is Eukanuba puppy small breed and he is eating that just fine. He is still playing with his toys as well. Does anyone have any advice? What do you all give your yorkies for treats? I know they are said to have very sensitive tummy's. Also, we dont think it is the heat because our house is air conditioned. any help will be very much appreciated! |
Is he acting very lethargic? B/c you need to be pre-cautious! It may have puppy-parvo..b/c those were the symptoms I was having w/ my dog and she had parvo, but we caught it early and she is fine now. But who knows it could also be the treats/food...I hope that's the case. I also use Eukanuba puppy food, and mix 1/2 a teaspoon of moist Eukanuba in her dry and she loves it! Good luck...Let us know if she get's better soon! |
With so much tummy upset maybe it might be a good idea to contact your vet. Dehydration can turn serious with throwing up, please make sure your fur baby is drinking if the throwing up continues. Changing the treats so often might also upset the tummy too. If Fenway seems to have a sensitive tummy Id lay off the treats for awhile until your vet can look at him and stick with his normal food diet. Keep us posted on how he does. Schatzie's favorite treats are carrots. |
Thanks for the two quick posts. I wouldnt say he is any more lazy than usual, he was playing with my husband when he came home from work and layed in his usual spot as we ate dinner, now that I am on the computer he is sleeping on my lap, all normal behavior. He after his first time of throwing up he went and ate some food, but then the 2nd and 3rd were close to each other, and I took his food up and just left his water after that. I'll keep you all posted thanks for the advice. I have heard a lot of yorkies that like carrots, he did too! He looks like a little bunny when he eats them hehe |
Talked to the vet and Fenway is to get tiny pieces of boiled chicken for his treats for the next week if he isnt better after that or gets worse in any way the vet wants to see him. |
