Ruptured teet?? Please help, Trixie had her puppies 2 days ago and have just noticed today that she has an extremely swollen teet. Not actually the nipple that is swollen, it is below the nipple. It is the bottom teet. I have spoken with a vet tech and they told me that the teet may actually rupture. I have antibiotics on the way from the vet. I do see some milk coming out of the teet, not the actual nipple though! I do not know what to do. Has anyone ever heard of this? I have dealt with mastitis before and it typically goes away after a couple of days. Is this more than masitis?? Thank you so much for any answers! |
i dont know i hope someone can help BUMP BUMP |
BuMp...hope you get some good responses! good luck:D |
Okay first take a deep breath! This happend to Miss Peyton when she had her puppies.... what has happend is the puppies have not gone to that teet as much as they have the others and it is filled with milk. What you need to do is the following: I did this and it worked: Get some cabbage take one leaf of the cabbage roll it out with a rolling pin (until you see the veins clear) place the cabbage with a warm cloth on top the cabbage on her swollen teet. Do this for 15 min. a day 3 times a day. With in 3 days my baby was all better. ALSO ... dont for get to try and express some of the milk. Everything is going to be okay! ;) it sounds like mastits ...however my baby never had the milk come through anywhere but the nipple.....but give it a try while she is on her antibiotics. Good Luck |
Thank you so much. I have already tried the warm compress. Trouble is I can't get any milk to express from the teet. Maybe the puppies have taken it all and has not filled back up yet?? Her temp is 101.7, I know that I've caught this early b/c I gave her a bath at 4:00 and found the lump about 5:00 |
Thanks for the help. She started the antibiotic and is now all better. Puppies are doing fine also :) BTW, what does BUMP mean?? |
