HELP! armani swallowed 3 small cubic zirconias my baby swallowed 3 or less small cubic zirconias that were on his collar which he decided to chew on after I gave him a bath. What should I do? should I take him to the vet a.s.a.p? or should I wait and see if he poops it out sometime soon? I would really hate to have to go to the vet and have them charge me just to say that there is nothing they can do and that we need to wait till he poops it out... can he get an infection from swallowing them? he hasnt been very playful today and you can tell he's feeling a little low. He also coughs every once in a while... what should i do? heeeelp ! |
I'd call your vet first thing in the morning. You could also call an ER vet and just see what they say. You could also force vomiting - but only if he JUST consumed these. When did this happen??? But, since they are so tiny, they will likely just pass out with his poo. I highly doubt they'd cause blockage bc of their size. Did he also consume the small, metal piece that holds the stone? Bc that can be kind of jagged - so that would be more of a concern, if indeed he did consume it. |
I believe he will more then likely poo them out. Watch for other signs that he;s not feeling well. If he gets worse, take him to the vet. :aimeeyork |
I'd be a little afraid to induce vomiting because I would be afraid he might choke on them, solids are more difficult to get up. Someone's dog just recently swallowed an diamond stud earring, and we were all worried about the stud part causing problems, she said her vet just said to watch the poop for a few days, and wasn't concerned. Much of it has to do with the size. I would put all poop in baggies for the next few days, and do the smush test, until all can be accounted for. I would also call my vet, and get his advice. Any problems with loss of appetite, no pooping, and vomiting can mean an intestinal blockage and are very serious. |
I can only say what I'd do and if Ellie swallowed anything like that and then wasn't feeling well and started to cough, I'd be on the phone with the vet asking what I should do next. I hope your pup is okay. |
It prob scratched his throat too while going down. |

How many days should I expect to be checking? How many days did your friend wait for the stud? So far he has gone twice and its hard to tell if there were any CZ's in it even after smushing it in the baggy... but im hoping I see them soon. He is eating decently... He's never been a big eater. And he seems to be normal doggy personality wise. Any other comments/suggestions?! |
Here goes Remember the pics of how they panned for gold? Well, after the poop is smooshed up run water in the bag at high velocity to separate stone from stool.Pour the stuff into a strainer or stretch a net over a pie pan and continue watering and shaking til you are extremely sure there is no stone unturned. If you could be really gross, convince your neighbors that you have a sack of rough that might contain some valuable stones and enlist their help. OMG, I am truly gross. LOL:eek: |
