Help my son came in yesteday passed out on the floor nearly dead from what they tell me was hypoglcemia. He has been very slow to recover i have to force feed him water, food and syurup his eyes dont look good im scared. Has anyone had this happen and how long did it take for ur dog to recover ? pls let me know . thanks |
How did they come to the conclusion that it is hypo? Why didn't they keep him if he isn't coming out of it? These pups certainly know how to scare us.:( |

He should bounce right back from a hypo episode after being treated. Has he eaten anything? Karo syrup, etc. is a quick fix, but he'll crash again if he doesn't get a good carb meal. How old is he? |

He shouldn't be taking this long to come out of it. There may be something different/in addition going on. |
He had some problems before this like not eating .... we feed him by hand every hour, he is so tiny 1lb so we are hoping he is going to make a full recovery. The only thing my vet found wrong was a parasite but he started the meds before this episode happened. He looks better today but not by any means fully bounced back so im still a lil worried. |
Keeping him warm is very important as well. I hope he'll be ok:hands: |

He is probably not able to regulate his own blood sugar because of his size. |
well the breeder says 8weeks when we got him but our vet says younger she thinks 6 weeks, we have had him for two weeks so 10weeks or 8weeks ya he is a lil one. The hosp staff said they could have problems with regulating there own BS intill they are over 2lb so we are trying hard to get him there. |

I hope the breeder is paying your vet bills. |
I wish no but she did give me my money back for him and offerd to take him back but he is already in my heart. So we are hoping for the best for him |

That breeder should be ashamed of herself for selling that poor baby so young. Yorkie puppies should stay with their mothers until they are 12 weeks old. This is a good link with tips for hypoglycemia. Hypoglycemia - A common condition in toy puppies |
Just wanted to report that the lil guy is doing great now,he's eating solid food and is a bundle of energy, attacks any feet that dare come within 20 paces of his territory Thank you all for the kind words and positive thoughts |
I'm glad he is better! |
