My JUJU BEAN is sick!!!!!!!!!!! Juju started to throw up a couple times yesterday and had diarrhea (dark brown and extra smelly) also. Then she seemed better. Then last night, she started a few time again and again. I gave her water in a syringe (by mouth) to make sure she was hydrated. Her gums did not turn white. She would just lie down and sleep and get up to have an episode several times during the night. I stayed with her all night in the office to keep an eye on her. I brought her to the vet this morning when they opened. I talked to him and he examined her. He said she really didn't seem dehydrated, but gave her subcutaneous fluids anyway. He also gave her an anti-nausea shot and metronidazole benz (medication). On the way home, she threw up again. When we got home, she had diarrhea again!!! She's gone so many times!!!! I called him back and asked could she possibly have eaten part of a poisonous mushroom or something. He said if she did, it should be out of her system by now (24 hrs). I am just hoping that it is NOT something dangerous that needs to be treated in a different way. I'm so worried!!!! Has this happened to anyone else? If so, please let me know. Please say a prayer for baby. Thank you. |
How scary for you and Juju! It's so worrisome when they are sick for no apparent reason. Did the doctor say how long the shots would take to work? Will say prayer for her, keep us posted. |
How old is she and has she had all of her shots? I would have her tested for Parvo....my baby just came down with it and is now undergoing treatment. She had vomiting and diarrhea also. The sooner you can treat parvo the better the chances are of survival. |
She is 18 months old and up-to-date on all of her shots. |
Ohhhhhh poor Juju!! Hopefully it's just a little tummy bug that will quickly pass..... Did the vet do a fecal? Does she have a fever at all? Any congestion either in her eyes, nose or chest? Here is a link to some good information on causes of vomiting and diarrhea in dogs.... maybe it will at least help you rule out some things and keep an extra watchful eye on others. Extra prayers goin' up for your sweet girl.... will be watching for updates and good news!! <<hugs>> Dog Owner's Guide: Intestinal upsets |
Had she eaten anything different 1-48 hours before this? Did the vet have you pull food? |
Prayer's coming Ju Ju's way. Buddy has those symptons and was hospitaled for 4 days. The closet they could come up with, after much testing and a complete GI series was finding grit in his lower intestine. It was believed it was from chewing on a nylabone. Hope your baby is better. If she continues these symptons she needs to go back to the vet for fludis, which you probably already know. Maybe something she ingested when you weren't looking. |
Oh, Juju! I wonder what's going on here! What does he want to do with feeding? Carbs? Any new treats lately? New food? Is she ever in the yard by herself where she could've gotten to a dead bird or standing water (giardia)? Did they do a fecal? Sending good thoughts your way!!! |
